Rebuttal Showdown is straight up unplayable/unbeatable

So firstly I'd like to preface this by saying that the game releasing without any sort of graphical options is a pretty big oversight and it likely would've helped with the following issue, but I didn't have too many framerate issues previously so I didn't think it was worth noting. Now, as for the topic of the post:

I got to the first Rebuttal Showdown and up until then the game was running pretty alright - however, the moment the minigame starts, the game slows down heavilly, from a steady 50-60 FPS to a very noticeable 20 - the nonstop debates barely had any framerate issues, if any. And if that wasn't enough of a problem, the minigame is basically impossible to beat even with the lowest difficulty settings  - my slashes have insane cooldown and input latency, with a solid second of input latency + another solid 3 seconds of cooldown, and the slashes do absolutely no damage - whatever statements they hit, do not break. Not a single statement breaks, even when I'm somehow able to sneak in three slashes. So, as you can imagine, if the slashes have such extreme delay and I have absolutely no means of advancing in the minigame, the minigame is absolutely impossible to beat, and I am completely stuck.

I was extremely excited to play the game after getting home from a long day, so to find out that the game is impossible to beat because of performance issues on a computer that runs Alien Isolation on max graphic fidelity like it's running Notepad is very disappointing to say the least. It also makes me wonder why the game released without a low-spec version, seeing as the prologue had one.

Either way, I sincerely hope that these issues are fixed as soon as possible. I can't even begin to imagine how this must be like for anyone else playing on a worse computer than mine. Other than that, game's been pretty good so far - it's just a shame my playthrough had to end because of something like this.

Yea same problem for me. Its really a shame i really wanted to play the game for myself. Hopefully they implement a low spec version in the future. I dont really know much about game development whatsoever but i dnt really understand why you need a 16 gb ram and high end pc to play a visual novel. I get there are 3D elements in it but there are games with higher graphics that need like 8 gb ram. Either way im just gonna stick to watching it on youtube for now

Had the same problem as well. Hopefully in the future the optimization gets better.

and the slashes do absolutely no damage - whatever statements they hit, do not break

Probably dev crew misplaced slash animation and actual slashes - I'm just pressed right (or D) and all statements breaks even when slashes don't touch them

Same! I literally can't slash through ANYTHING! Toshiko's Fetch Quest isn't even an option to use for me, its honestly so frustrating. I see the slashing symbol go through the words, but it doesn't cut. I have the game running right now, but I'm afraid I can't even make it through the first class because of this.  

Yea I hate to say it but I unfortunately found myself in the same situation.  I wasn't able to slash any of my opponents arguments. I only got like one hit which isn't enough.  This happened while playing on my laptop. I wanna try this again with my computer when I get the chance to see if I'm able to on there but until I don't think I'll be able to progress the game until then. 

I had the same problem but I fixed it. First, I restarted my laptop. Then, I changed the action setting to the easiest setting for the trial. Finally during the rebuttal I spammed the D button. It works, at least it did for me.

A low spec version is currently available in the discord, we actually have a separate thread in the tech support channel where we're working on ways to optimize Rebuttal showdown. Sorry about that!
