My Game is Not Appearing in itch.io Search Results

Hello everyone,

I recently published my game on itch.io, and I’m really happy with the response it has received so far. The game has already been downloaded over 400+ times and has received close to 1,000 views! 🎉

However, I’m facing an issue: My game does not appear in itch.io's search results. This makes it difficult for new players to discover my game, and it’s also impacting my ability to market it effectively.

Here are some details about my game:

I have already checked the following:

  • My game is published.
  • The visibility settings are set to "Public".
  • I haven’t restricted my game from being indexed.

Despite this, the game is still not showing up in search results.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? I would really appreciate any suggestions or advice on how to fix this problem. Also, is there any way to contact the itch.io support team directly to resolve this?

Thanks in advance for your help! 😊

If you did not market it and got so many views, your game might have been temporarily delisted after your update.

If you did market it, it might not have been indexed yet. You have payment active. Indexing usually takes longer for first time payment active.

tl;dr Please wait.

No, it does not. Direct links work just fine. And who is gonna search for your game's name without knowing it at a place where you promoted the direct link?

Looks like something wrong with itch. I have published my game and had about 1700 views per first days, later the number of viewers goes down and now I have less than 20 per day. Is it a normal situation? As for me it looks very weird.

Maybe it is the "feature" of my new game and nobody likes it, ok. But I have checked my previous game (it has been published more than a year ago) and I see the same situation - after dec 15 the number of viewers goes down dramatically.

What's happened?

Only two of your five projects are currently indexed.

As above, please wait and read this https://itch.io/t/4120453/game-quarantined-search-or-indexing-problem-read-this

Could be anything and most likely is temporary. There is also payment on your projects and your two indexed games have no payment. Who knows. It is only guesswork. Updating sometimes puts games into a staff review queue again.

ok. I will wait and track the situation. Thanks for the fast answer.

Also I have a question: how can I get the information about the indexing of my games? How did you take those info?

Search your username in the search box. You must do this on a logged in account that has adult games active.

For a non-generic username like your's, your games should appear first in the results.

If you updated your games with a vpn, they might even be in quarantine. But either way, Itch staff will have to have a look and there is a waiting time and holidays are coming. I would not count on being visible before the next year.

But this does not hinder your marketing efforts much. Linking and visiting and playing your browser games works unimpeded.
