How do the quirks work?
Each time you roll a letter you've already rolled, you also roll a d6 for a quirk. You keep the repeated letter, it's just that you gain an additional wrinkle. This quirk may change how you form the rest of the details. Interpret it in whatever way works for you.
Example: you may get a 'g' when forming the name and then another 'g' when forming the attributes. This would trigger rolling on the quirks.
What if I get the same quirk twice (or more)?
Disregard and roll again. Or interpret it as being an extreme form of that quirk. It's up to you!
What does xenodochial mean?
It's a fancy word for friendly.
What about stats?
This is a freeform generator to get your imagination going and develop an idea of a beast or foe or whatever. If you want to have stats for it for your favourite game system, it's over to you!
Is there an easy way to work out which numbers correspond to which letters?
If you have trouble counting out the first letters of the alphabet, here's a reference:
1 = A | 2 = B | 3 = C |
4 = D | 5 = E | 6 = F |
7 = G | 8 = H | 9 = I |
10 = J | 11 = K | 12 = L |
13 = M | 14 = N | 15 = O |
16 = P | 17 = Q | 18 = R |
19 = S | 20 = T | |
1 = U | 2 = V | 3 = W |
4 = X | 5 = Y | 6 = Z |
Can I post my creation?
Of course, anyone's welcome to share what they've made.
Is there a way I should format my forum post?
I'm making all of this up as I go, so not really. But I'd recommend putting the genre of game your creation would suit in the title in square brackets.
Example: Plague Quill [fantasy / horror]
