Classic games renewed

Hello everyone,

This topic is addressed to programmers, particularly those skilled in using various game creation software and who may also be fans of retro gaming. I believe that several iconic titles from the past, which have in some way shaped video game history, could have been even more captivating if they had included more levels to play or more enemies to face. However, due to the limitations of the time and the small amount of memory available in just a few kilobytes, this wasn't possible.

For this reason, I would like to invite anyone interested to try creating remakes or simply "upgrades" by adding, as mentioned, more levels and enemies while retaining the original sprites from back in the day. This has already been successfully done for alternative versions of Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, or Bagman, which can be found here on itch.io.

Among the classic titles that I believe would be interesting to develop, I would highlight:

  • Popeye (Nintendo)
  • Green Beret (Konami)
  • Kung Fu Master (Data East) (even though I noticed a remake already exists)

Others:

  • Guzzler (Tehkan)
  • Iron Horse (Konami)
  • Jail Break (Konami)
  • Rock'n Rope (Konami)
  • Up'n Down (Sega)
  • Kangaroo (Sun Electronics/Atari)

Thank you for your attention, and I hope this idea inspires some of you!

Awesome idea, but these passion projects are super labor intensive. It's awesome when people take the time to make it happen, but it's way too much for most of us to try to do. I hope we see more soon!
