Hey everyone! I wanted to share some updates on my project Survival On The Island. The game prototype is now 85% complete. There are just a few final touches left: polish the menu, the ending, game settings, and fix bugs and errors. Once that's done, I'll move on to the next phase — developing the alpha version!

What’s been done so far:

  • Core Mechanics:

    • Players can move (walk, jump, crouch) and interact with the world.
    • Basic survival systems implemented: hunger, thirst, health.
    • Resource gathering is functional: berries from bushes, wood from oak trees, rocks, and ores.
  • Crafting:

    • Basic items can be crafted, such as an axe and shovel.
    • The mechanics of using gathered resources to craft tools and objects are working.
  • World & Visuals:

    • The game features a low-poly art style for the island, trees, rocks, and other objects. The visual design is simple but appealing.
    • The basic island is created, with a few biomes and resources to gather.

What still needs to be done:

  • Game Menu: I need to create the interface for starting the game, settings, saving/loading, etc.
  • Ending: The prototype will have a basic ending, just to wrap things up, but more complex objectives will come in later versions.
  • Game Settings: Adding options for adjusting graphics, sound, and controls.
  • Bug Fixing & Polishing: The current version needs some refinement to improve performance and fix smaller issues.

About the Game:

Survival On The Island is a sandbox survival game focused on realism, where players find themselves stranded on a small, isolated island. The goal of the game is to survive by using the surrounding resources: gathering food, crafting tools, building shelters, farming, and fishing.

The game features realistic mechanics like:

  • Survival: Players must manage hunger, thirst, and health.
  • World Exploration: An open world with various biomes, natural resources, and wildlife.
  • Crafting & Building: Players can craft tools, shelters, and start fires to cook food and keep warm.
  • Farming: Growing crops like wheat, which can be used to make bread and other food items.

Game Goals:

  • Players will need to explore the island, gather resources, and craft items for survival.
  • There will be various challenges, such as managing food supplies, surviving the night, and dealing with wild animals.
  • Future updates will include more complex goals, like creating a full settlement, interacting with other players, and influencing the island's ecosystem.

What’s Next?

Once the prototype is completed, I’ll move on to the alpha version, which will include more content and mechanics, such as:

  • Expanded fishing system.
  • More complex farming mechanics.
  • Hunting and wildlife interaction.
  • A more dynamic world with weather conditions and seasons.

The alpha version will also introduce a more refined user interface, optimizations, and improved performance.

[News] "Survival On The Island" Development — Alpha Version & Asset Overhaul!

Hey everyone! I wanted to share some new updates about my project Survival On The Island.

Prototype Release Coming This Fall: The prototype is almost complete, and its release is scheduled for this fall. I’m currently working on fixing the remaining bugs, polishing the menu, settings, and ending. The prototype is 85% complete, and I hope to have it available for testing by fall.

Moving to a New Engine for the Alpha Version: It's important to note that the alpha version of the game will be fully transitioned to a new game engine, which will provide better performance and flexibility for adding new features and improvements. This move will significantly improve the game’s quality and prepare it for future updates.

Complete Asset and Model Overhaul: I've decided to completely revamp the game’s models and assets. This includes new textures, more detailed models, and improved visuals that will better match the game’s atmosphere. I’m excited to share the first results with you — the new assets are in progress, and I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Here are the first screenshots and examples of the new models and objects in the game:

Why these changes?: I realized that to create a truly high-quality and immersive gaming experience, I needed to start with solid and well-designed assets. This will not only improve the visual appeal of the game but also make it more engaging and cohesive.
