Ok so i spent lot of time on FTL and you really made a really good job thx for good work, actually i am playing with a friend on the public server (so using v0.5) and some other fan of FTL may join (sorry for the guy we killed, but you know exitation of first encounter/tracking with sensor).

So a little question, is there any way to scan a sector for npc before to go, i don't see any subsystems like scaners or zoltan sheild, no subsys ?

I had spent some time on a ship starting to upgrade and farm, but i encounter 5 pirates in the same place and died in maybe 4second, any way to prevent this ? Or only blind jump ?

Why official server not running the 0.7 ? No musics or i have bugs ?

For now only blind jump, Scanning the sector before jumping to it - will be added in later versions.


Why official server not running the 0.7 ? No musics or i have bugs ?

a0.5 has events configured for an openworld MMO server type.

a0.7 has events configured for a scenario coop play through, where the server starts with 1 ship for the players, and if it is destroyed, you need to restart the game/server. Fortunately you can now do this from the ingame menu.


I advise you to run a local server for you and your friends with version a0.7 and try out the coop story(it can be played solo too, but it's not as fun as coop).

Ok thx for your answer ! Again great work, you should give us a way to scan before jumping as soon as possible cause actually it cause the game to be almost unplayable, way too harsh, loosing hours of farm in like 5s without being able to do anything

+ Quick suggestions :

- Bank system (cause as you can die anytime it could be cool to have a bank instead of mule ^^)

- Don't sync offline guys, they won't move anyway, could fix hudge lag in spawn zone, cause even if you manage to set your spawn at an other place every new/other guys in this place makes whole server lags. So hudge desinchro on whole server, no idea if it's linked to spawn point but, sometimes you just have hudge desinch and can't do anything, all hud not refresh, weapon not shoot, repair not repair.(most of character disapear on server i think admin cleaned it everything works better thx, but i have still those "disconection" when i jump in a place with lots of pirates.

- Please put updates of 0.7 on MMO server (com/ion/full screen/storyline/sensors screen for pilot), if you could merge 0.5 and 0.7 could be great to use those news things in the MMO.

- I don't se many players around on the server did you comunicate about this game ? Are there other servers running more populated ? Personally i had hard time to found your game, i am trying to bring friends (aleady 5 tested => 4 totally liked).

I think about making a small tutorial for begineers, info for how to start on the wiki are not really helping ^^

I see you had problems to greelight, your game is great, with new graphical artist you should stay on space theme if you can, submarine things is less sexy i think. I not possible because of some licence bullshits i hope you will continue working on this tachyon as a mod (just don't give assets).

Again really really nice job on this game, reminds me Fonline (a mod transforming fallout 2 in a mmo) and i am playing Fonline for 8 years now, so long live to this game i think i could spend lot of time on it.

Well you can store it in a space station. And you can make your station well guarded (but still raidable) :)

Though I understand what you mean - Maybe I'll add it later.

I've tried to fix this in a0.7 - not tested though (cause no MMO server on a0.7 yet). Hopefully it's fixed.

I don't have the time to do it myself right now. But it's all accessible, so players can do this on their own.

If someone works on this - I can then include it in the next release.

Not too much, I was planning on going for greenlight but was denied(Need my own completely new art), And now the game is in the process of being converted to underwater, you can check the update topic for details.

Yes though since the game is not going to become a comercial thing till it's converted to underwater with all the new art and everything I guess I could put all the images back again, but I'm not sure if anyone will get solty of this again. So I'm not gona bother with it right now.

Yes, it does, In a0.7. you can see it in the engines system screen.

When traders are out of stock (completely), they move to some random adjacent sector and get new stock. (even in a0.5)

a0.5 - in some random sector selected during world generation. (best ask jrb0001 - it's his server)

a0.7 - at the end of the story line. (I'm actually very curious if someone managed to beat the a0.7 story)

Maybe less sexy but more fresh. There are a lot of other space games out there right now. And if I stick with space theme, my game might get viewed as - "meh, just another space game".

Don't worry the underwater game will be none less interesting, the core mechanics are very similar.

Also, if need be, It won't be too hard to release another version of the game but space themed. ;)

I used to play Fonline the 2238 server. And it was awsome!

Stopped not long before it got shut down.

Still have the badass soundtrack mp3s by xcentric noizz though, and from time to time listen to the wasteland radio :D

I could work on the events for the a07 MMO server if you want to move it up from a05.

Hehe you played Fonline, we can consider the world is small to meet someone who played this, we may have played together if you were part of a big gang. You mau not be aware but after 2238 closed fonline² came out, but actually hackers broked the game and we waiting for serious engine fixes so server progression is paused.

Thx for your answers, unfortunately, and i have no idea why, i can't play anymore cause my character is always desinc from the server when i am with other players (worked perfectly for 3 days, and sudently stoped to works)

but some suggestions :

- Pirates witch never disapears was a problem when i started the game, the spawn location was surrounded by heavy pirates and i had no way to jump. I think someone with a big ship just pass over there and spawned hudge encounters all arround, kind of frustrating at the begining, and really really hard (if you not pshyco i think you stop playing at the 3rd blind jump insta death). So pirates should move away after some times (a troll with a lvl 30 ship could easely spawn pirates all over spawn and totally block it.

I have a question,... once the Ship is destroyed... is there a way to respawn a new one with out starting the server over... me and my friend enjoy playing but rage out when our ship exlodes and have to start over lol
