I'd like the view/download statistics to be an optional/toggleable thing.

Hide views from where? Views for project pages are already hidden. The only place view counters are shown is on topics in communities.

I’m assuming you’re asking for a way for people to show their views on their project pages. This probably isn’t something we will do. We are considering having a system that gives project pages flair for hitting certain milestones though, like 10k, 100k, 1m views/downloads.

I go to https://itch.io/dashboard to access my projects, and it shows me analytics for them, including view and download counts. I'm asking for a way to not see that.

And why would you not want to see that?
It's not that I don't respect your request, it's just that I am wondering

I'm not really sure, it just makes me uncomfortable to see.

I'm not really advocating for a visibility feature, but I understand what you mean. I also feel uncomfortable when I see my statistics. I don't completely know why. I think knowing people are interacting with my projects makes me anxious. Fear of being judged or something like that...

I don't mind seeing my stats, in fact I want to see them, but perhaps they could be on a separate page from the main dashboard. One motivation for this is when I view my dashboard on my phone browser, the two columns (projects and stats) side by side are so narrow that I can't read them, so in that situation just the project column would be better with the stats elsewhere (on another page or perhaps below the projects). Not a big deal, but it'd be a nice little enhancement.
