One of my first 3D doodles/concepts for the game, with the next up being a robot to carry it.
enjoy! :3
Human! You are about to become a sword robot! · By
That is a very good shield! Although, I did already create some Shield Robots of my own, as well as my own shield.
Without a doubt, your shield fits the style better!
I actually saw your shield as I was posting mine, and I think it looked really neat!
I would've liked to add something more to this shield, but I was trying to keep it within the constraints of the game's current style... I do want to make a Mk. II or Mk. III variant, though, after a robot to hold it. :3
Some of the things I want to work on:
- Shield Robots (slightly thicker-than-usual limbs, to make severing a little extra touchy)
- Turret Robots (Tripod-mounted guns that shoot rapid-fire, high-spread bullets, that can be blocked by shields/arrow-deflect upgrades)
- Armored Walkers (Based off of the first non-humanoid robot idea, with low attack capability, but thick legs and body that make severing limbs and exposing its vulnerable core difficult and risky(Hammers and fire would be super effective, now that I think about it.)
- Some sort of miniboss-type robot (Has a strong, powerful weapon that can only be temporarily obtained by the player if they defeat it; garbage robots would fly above the player, out of reach, and take it from them after the match, as it would be counted as garbage too to prevent them from carrying it indefinitely. Maybe you will be able to steal the turret's gun?)
Anyways, I'm excited to work on these, but I would also be super excited to see other people's ideas and takes on them, so I encourage other people to beat me to it! :3
For Voxel Model editing, I use MagicaVoxel or Qubicle, which both have their different advantages and disadvantages in terms of modelling~
MagicaVoxel is a free program, and super simple- it's very easy to get started creating something! The downside is that MagicaVoxel can only support a single model at a time, and it's quite difficult to modify and export different materials for a single model.
Qubicle can support any number of separate models, and they can be exported with their own material patterns, but it's a paid program and a lot more complex ,and harder to learn to use- I strongly recommend it if you feel like you're up for the challenge~! ^w^
Next, I use Blender, a free 3D modelling program, to import the models and animate or tweak them. I use that for things like creating turntables for my models and such, and making sure they glow the way I like. =w=
Links can be found in some of my other posts if you'd like, and they can all be searched online if you'd like. If you have any other questions, you can ask me~! And good luck, Gold!
i had an idea for a Railgun laser pistol, but i lack the ability to do what you can do.
it would explode in the radius that spider-trons death explosion does, except without the ring, and takes 2 energy to fire. it goes at about two times the speed arrows go at.
if i knew the software you used for your images i could possibly make a model, but for general design, its similar to the handcannon from destiny.
Edit: it takes a second or two to charge up to fire.
I would absolutely love to see this!
Making models is easier than it seems. You can pay for programs like Qubicle, and while that does provide benefits, I can give you a couple of tools to get started if you want! :3
1st on your free-program shopping list is MagicaVoxel. This program is the absolute most important one, you will actually be creating within it. It's free, and a non-intrusive program. The link can be found here. There are also plenty of tutorials for this program online, so getting accustomed is easy~!
2nd, you'll want Blender! Blender is a program specifically designed for proffessional-level 3D modelling, but if that's not what you're into, it can also be used for other things. In this case, you'll want to separately export bits of your model and import them into here, so that you can create things like animations and panning shots. The link can be found here. Blender is so widely used that you can find a tutorial for almost everything, so that should make the complex interface much less intimidating! :3
Lastly, this one is optional. Magicavoxel is fantastic, but one of its weakpoints is that it exports models very oddly, so that faces and vertices are rendered in a very illogical way in blender. If you want to fix that, you can use a simple program made by shivshank to export them more crisply, to allow for easier editing in Blender. The link can be found here, but although it is very straightforward, it is a niche program and might be confusing without prior knowledge.
So here you go! If you want to make 3D fanart for Clone Drone, this should help out a lot. :3
there's actually a very easy way to add different effects to different parts of the model. If you look in MagicaVoxel's 'render' settings, there are different options, with 'emission' being a glowing effect. you can select that option and then export that piece like that.
the 3d camera rotation is actually a quite simple process in blender! Here's a tutorial that should be very comprehensive!
size shouldn't matter. As long as you can move and zoom your camera, you can get it just how you want it~!
the size does. until i zoomed out in blender, i thought it was tiny, and when i zoomed out, i found this thing thats 20 times larger than the cube in the middle and was gray. but i should be set to go now.
Edit: your stuff is awesome in comparison to most things i could make, so i give this a 10/10 for your work
I'm currently on a sort of... Hiatus, of sorts, because I'm developing my own game. I'm going to be tracking my progress here, on my deviantart page!
The next thing I'm going to fix is the shield, by making it more similar to the hammer and also making it a little more compatible for upgrades (think spikes, energy field, and size.)
After that, I'll finally make a robot truly worthy of holding it.
Also, I've recently created the first two levels of the One Enemy Challenge! Check them out! :3
I am so, so sorry that I've been absent for so long! I'd love to present something to show for it, but alas, all I have is some little fragments of tedious home life!
Anyways, it looks fantastic! Usually if you post a direct image url into a post, it'll display it. The gun is great, my only suggestion is that it might be too good! Clone Drone is an awesome-sauce looking game to be sure, but it also has a somewhat simple style, so I'd recommend working on that to make it blend better~!
Aside from that, fantastic, super duper amazing work! :D
Ya' girl!
She's back!
With a humongous, GIGANTIC robot!
He might be a little way too big. Sorry. ovo'
The whole drill with allowance of potential use and such, of course and of course~
If Doborog wants this, I will remove it from my own art page and agree to provide all rights and original files. -v-
I dunno if I've ever remembered to say that.
That's an axcellent idea~!
I was thinking perhaps a tower shield, but definitely something worth of its size! :3
Hammer bots are around ~28 px high, and She's almost twice that size... so yes, much much bigger! I wasn't paying much attention to balance or fairness when I made Her~
Unfortunately, I was actually an idiot and misplaced her model. So I can't actually do anything else with Her, although there's a possibility that I'll recreate Her after choosing a random fan suggestion to do from the forum~!
I think the new armor mechanic would fit quite nicely with Her, maybe those voxels are extremely resistant, but overall the robot is rather slowy and clunky? Maybe immune to kicking, but that wouldn't make sense if you can kick Spidertron 6000s but not Her. If you want a name idea, I have:
MKX Colossus Executor
MKX Heavy Decapitator
MKX Defensive Destroyer
I imagine a REALLY big MK3 version of Her towering over a Spidertron 6000, perhaps as a boss or miniboss.
Yes, armor to go with her would be lovely! But only in small areas in heavy amounts, which is partially what I went with in her design. You can see an exposed core in the middle of her chest there.
If she had a shield, it would make a lot of sense for it to be extremely resistant or even indestructible, but she wouldn't be a big attacker on her own~!
I really like the sound of Colossus, but she wouldn't be a mark X~! Once I redesign her (for the third time, it would seem) I intend to... ya know, actually save the model, so I can make higher Marks for her~!
I think she'd be super cool as a miniboss. Maybe appearing periodically between things like endless stages, or as part of her own challenge! :3
About the MKX, it's because I didn't know how many versions you'd make :P, it's my way of saying "Mark anything", or saying something has one version.
About the challenge, it would take ages because of how bulky she is, but it would be fun to fight something that can't die in a hit.
About indestrucible, what if you found two versions: One that had no shield, but could be killed by chipping at her armor or destroying her core, and one that has a shield, can block any attack, but gets knocked back by hits, what I'm thinking about is having her (And some respawning cannon fodder) in a map with a lava pool on the end, you have to push her while avoind endless waves of weak enemies, when she hits the lava, she dies and all of the other enemies would as well.
Also, fire, maybe she could be rather fire resistant so you don't have a simple tactic against her, but fire would still be effective.
Maybe her weak point should be the core, making precise strikes key to beating her without, well, taking ages to chip at her body, maybe it could be her only weak spot.
First creation, for PyroManiac019! :3
They suggested bigger swords~!
Maybe I'll make an even bigger one later. ;3
Seems like something that would swing slower, but with a great reach and great damage, I noticed the two voxel blade, would slash through robots (Especially MK3 Hammer Bots) easily, maybe because it's so big it gets knocked aside easily when you block, but also does that to enemy robots. Just imagine this thing with fire.
https://itch.io/t/91866/law-enforcement-robots-anticheat This one.
(Also, ignore the anticheat part, it's really dumb XD)
I've actually seen this! :3
I've read most of the posts on the forums~
While it's a nice idea, the sword is already quick in itself, and a jetpack makes it even more deadly.
Also, I'd judge from their cynical attitude towards it, as hinted at in game, that the developer(s) aren't planning on adding dual wielding any time soon, though I could very easily be wrong! ^w^

Sorry for the late response!
I'm aliiiiiiiiiive~! Mwahahahaha! =w=this is my first time getting on since I last posted, so this will be super duper interestiiiiiing....My more recent voxel models have been created in Qubicle, a professional program that allows for manipulation of individual parts and such.... However, I started out by using Magickavoxel! Magickavoxel is a free piece of software that allows simple editing of a single voxel model. (A link can be found here!) Magicavoxel usually won't be able to produce a polished model well on its own, though. To that end, I use Blender, a piece of free 3D modelling software (Available here!) Blender can be super duper intimidating to work with at first, but it is an extremely popular application, and many tutorials can be found for it on Youtube and the like. You can export pieces of your model one at a time from Magickavoxel into blender, and then manipulate or resize them independently.
Best of luck with all of your modelling efforts~!
(A little tip for creating models: try to keep an eye on the original style if you create fan-models for Clone Drone. Many people create voxel models that are round, large, and curvy, but Doborog has opted for a very angular, simple style. If you keep that in mind, I'm sure you'll be creating amazing fan models in no tiiime~!)
I'm back, you beautiful ladies and gentlemen (and any other things)~!
It's been a long, long while, and I'm only just getting used to the new changes that have been added to Clone Drone. I don't know how often I'm going to visit the forum, and I especially don't know how often I'll be creating new voxel models... But it's really, really great to be back! It's fantastic to play the game again and see all of the changes that've been made.
Anyways, I'm excited to work with all of you again, and I hope I can continue to satisfy and impress! Have a great day, everyone~!
