A couple of questions - new dock, new room, some other stuff

I just updated to the latest patch this afternoon. I can't walk onto the new dock.

Also, in the new room, the walls are not decorated with the wall pattern I bought for the rest of the house. I bought the walls before the new room was built, but I thought the walls would apply for the whole house. Is that intentional? Do I have to buy the wall pattern again to have it apply to the new room?

Everything else in the new room works great now - no more walls acting like curtains and hiding things. Thanks!

I really like the transparent trees thing. Makes nagivation much easier. I also love the new winter plants! It's fun to find different things in different seasons.

I've noticed the game is pretty laggy in certain areas - to the north of my farm, right before the bridge to the mine, and just to the west of my farm. The sound starts skipping, and my character starts moving a lot slower. It's especially bad at night and when the fireflies are out or it's raining. It fixes itself immediately when I move to a different area. This has been an issue for a while - it's not new with this patch.

I really like assembling the artifacts for archaeology. I've had some issues with a few artifacts, though. Some of the "puzzle" pieces are just one or two pixels. I don't know if other people have perfect vision or what, but for me, they can be really hard to see that they're even there, much less where they go. And they can be hard to pick up with the mouse, especially if you accidentally drop them on the wrong place on the artifact and have to move them - it's almost like they disappear. The first time it happened, I thought there was something on my screen. I'd love it if the tiniest ones were a little bigger.

How do we make dye? I can't buy covered furniture because it all requires dye.

Clay is really energy-intensive (and therefore frustrating). An entire status bar will get me like 20 clay. Could this be balanced out some? It seems like you'd just need to change the probability of getting clay with any given dig?

I wish when I clicked the ready notification over the stove that it would open to where I could pick up my cooked food instead of the default menu.

Can you make it possible for the up ladder in the mines to have the option of going only up one level as well as all the way out? Sometimes I accidentally go down when I didn't mean to and I'd like to just be able to go back to the previous level.

Hello, I’ll answer what I can here in order for you. As for the dock, that’s on me, when I remade the zone, I thought that you couldn’t walk on the dock prior because there is no quest to fix it yet, apparently you could always walk on it though so I’ll change it.

As for the new room, yes that is intentional. The same thing should happen with floors unless I did something wrong. The idea is you can decorate each room differently if you want. I know that means some people will have to buy the same wall multiple times but at the moment at least I think the option is worth the cost.

Glad to hear the bug is gone with the room walls.

Glad you like it, the transparency system still needs some tweaking, it was a rush job done on Friday before the patch went live.

As for lag that’s good to know. I like to know these things but at the same time it’s very dependent on the computer you are running the game on. Do you happen to know your computer specs? The areas you are referring to are both larger meaning more objects are loaded in at any given time. Rain is also going to create more objects on a regular basis and fireflies play into the lighting engine which is probably one of the more graphically intensive things in the game.

As for the archaeology puzzles, I agree. It’s something on my list of things to look into. So, rest assured that at some point I will alter that.

Yeah, dye is linked into alchemy which isn’t in the game yet. I might push basic alchemy ahead just so dyes can be made because I know they are required for more than a few types of furniture.

I’ll look into clay. To be honest I don’t know that I’m really satisfied with the system in general. Originally, I made that system out of convenience since I didn’t have any ideas. Maybe be time to revisit it in general to figure something out. By “clicked the ready notification over the stove” I’m assuming you mean just interacted with the stove. I don’t know that it’s possible to allow for clicking elements with your mouse, which sounds dumb I know. Everything is linked to the tile you are facing however. I’d consider making it so that if you interact with the stove when there is a notification prompt that it takes you straight to the oven instead of the recipes though.

For the ladder thing I’ll consider it. It seems like a reasonable request the real. My only concerns are needing UI for it, as well as coding it. It sounds like an easy thing to code but I’m unsure since most likely I coded the mines with the assumption the player would only ever go down. Still I’ll look into it at some point, it may be simpler than I think.

I think I might have accidentally replied to myself instead of you. With the way the nesting looks on this page, I can't tell. So if you've already seen this, please disregard!

Yes, I guess I mean interact with the stove. I've been clicking the notification when it's there, which opens the stove menu. I guess I wasn't paying attention that it's not a separate action with a different result.

By the way, I just noticed today that the trees in the area just to the west of my farm are having layering issues. There are flowers (winter jasmine) on the ground that look like they're on top of branches. I also noticed that around the lake to the southwest of my farm, walnut trees (I think that's what they are - it's winter and they don't have leaves, but they are dark wood) don't go transparent, and they behave like curtains - they cover me when I run up to them from the south.

It just occurred to me you were saying the floors should also not carry over to the new room, but I've never been able to get new floors? I see the tab in the catalog where I think they should be, but there's nothing there.

Hello, yeah it looks like you replied to yourself so I didn’t get a notification. In any case thanks for the specs. Based on the specs I would think you should be fine. I mean your graphics card is integrated, which means its lower end, but everything else should more than make up for it I’d think. I’ve got optimization on my list so I’ll try to take a look at things when I get a chance.

As for the trees and flowers I’ll check but I can’t imagine why just some of them would be doing that. Maybe I set a few on the wrong layer or something? I’ll have to look. Did this just start happening, or do you not know?

I had noticed the tree layering thing in the last major update as well, but I think it was more widespread at that time. The problem with the flowers is new.
