About the game:

You are a photographer and your boss doesn't care if the park isn't safe anymore.

You've got a job to do, pictures to take.

You don't notice anything out of the ordinary until you get home and take a look at the photos. Something followed you from the park and it wants to play a game with you.

I started working on my game for the Scream Lite (Scream Zone) jam.

I had an idea based on a strange dream I had (so it wasn't that difficult to come up with a title), and needed a jam as an excuse to keep myself motivated to go till the end with this project.

I confess the optional theme "profit" was a bit tricky, I wasn't expecting it at all...
I didn't really know what kind of game could be born from this theme (well, one game that came to my mind was Outlast), but I guess I'll manage to integrate it to the game in the end...

It's a game inside a game. You get to explore a desktop and its apps.

I've worked mostly on the art aspect so far.
(I might change them later.)

I'm using RPG maker MV as the game engine, and MS paint for the art.

I can’t wait to play it!!! The computer screen looks amazing. I love the way you design your games 🤩🤩🤩

Thank you!! (/ ; w ;)/

I'm still working on the game summary and the story background, but the main idea is ready.

I think the images folder is done ^^ (EDIT: done creating the events for this part, too!)
You'll get to explore five pictures on your computer.
I'm almost done with the e-mail inbox, too, I just need to correct the text there.

Also, it's no longer going to be a laptop (last minute change I guess, but I'm so much happier with this new one):

These last days I worked on the email inbox (a lot of eventing to do, but I think it's all in place now). Also, I finally came up with a decent plot hehe (thanks, sis!)

I didn't write as many devlog entries as I'd hoped, but that's okay because there's still lots to do! "error: Slasher Alert" is not over yet ;-)

I'm really happy with everything so far. I know it may not be perfect and there might be some bugs (hopefully not too many), but I'm confident part 1 is over and I can finally send the game to the jam.

I confess this was a challenge for me. In my head, 10 days of jam seemed ideal to finish the first part of my project. In reality, it turned out to be a bit harder because I had to redo some of the art as I was not completely confident about it in the beginning, and once I almost lost the whole thing because I forgot to back it up... I like to plan and replan, and procrastinate, so of course it seemed too little time xD
But I'm glad I took the jam as an opportunity to finally finish something. I haven't worked on anything this big since February and I'm proud of myself.

As for part 2, I don't know when it'll come out as I still need to start working on it, but I can promise you that most of the planning is already done (the 1st draft, if you will). I can't wait to show you all the rest of the game!

I hope whoever is reading this has enjoyed the progress so far and will stick with me to see what part 2 has in store!
PS: the complete version will have some (more) easter eggs as I want the game to be in the same universe as my other game.

Hey, guys! Just wanted you to know that I already started working on part 2’s art 👀

EDIT (Sunday): Today I finished some of the maps for part 2!

And with that, I'd like to say that part 2 will mostly be about playing a mini game while you try to keep an eye on Danny :)

To be honest, the main goal of this project was to make a game in a game, and in my opinion the best part about it is that it will be connected to the main story!

I don't know the exact date of part 2's release but I can promise you that it will come out before Autumn (at least I hope so!).

PS: Not that anyone asked but I think the title will make more sense after you play part 2 ^^

Hey, there!

I don't have much to show you, just some art of the cutscene I've been working on:

I wish I updated this devlog more often, but sometimes I don't really have enough time or content to show (most times I simply forget ><).

Hopefully it's enough, though ^^

Your drawings are amazing, I really wanna visit that village :)

Keep up the good work!

Thank you! Hopefully you’ll be able to visit it very soon ✨

Nice choice of colors on that panels. That cutscene art gives me a lot of halloween vibes, I'm looking forward to playing the game :-)

Thank you!! Spoiler alert: it all happens during Halloween >:D

I like the overall design of it, creepy and retro just on my alley

Thank you for commenting!✨

Hey, there! \( ; v ; )/

I just want to let you guys know that I decided to put "error: Slasher Alert" on hold for a while.

It is a long and ambitious project, and working on a slow and old laptop makes it harder than it has to be. Writer's block doesn't help, either ^^

I can't make promises, but till I get a better computer, I hope to slowly work on other aspects of the game such as the backstory and the art, but on a different pace (e:SA won't be my main focus right now). That means there won't be new devlogs for a while. However, it doesn't mean I won't be creating other games ^^

I hope you understand!
You can still play part 1 of the game if you want (link).

That's all for now, thanks for reading! (/ ; v ; )/ <3 <3
