Devlog 3 - Production

As Auto-Shipping Solutions approaches its end as we only have 2 weeks left before the end, our team has been doing a great job at completing the game.

During our playtests we still have received some negative feedback. For example, the movement of the cursor is still feeling a bit weird in terms of its movement. They suggested that the speed of it should be slightly increased for better interaction. I have also gotten a recommendation from one of my play testers saying that the player should only be able to pick up the boxes when the robot is in front of them. To be honest, I agree with what that play tester said as it would add a slight increase in difficulty. He also gave out another suggestion saying that as the game progresses the speed of the conveyor could also increase slowly. We currently have one level in the game and still debating whether we should add one or two more as we have four different buttons in the game currently displayed.

As far as how my part of the project is going, really, I haven鈥檛 had much to do as all the narrative has already been covered with the robot giving the instructions to the player of how to play the game and the PA announcer saying that the player finished the current level and can move on to the next one. Our three artists have already finished the art and are implementing them into the Unity engine by our programmer, Todd.

With that being said, I decided to take responsibility for helping Todd in helping him getting the tutorial into the game. After so much feedback of our play testers saying that they were confused as to how to play the game and having them find out how to play the game by themselves was something that frustrated them.

But yea overall, I think our team is doing a great job at nearing the completion of our project, and I forward in completing and finalizing this project together 馃槉

Thanks for reading.

Hey David! This is a great reflection into the work that has been done thus far, and I'm excited to play your group's game in 2 weeks! That's an interesting piece of feedback about the robot having to be in front of the rails. If the speed of the conveyor belts increases as time goes on, it might also be frustrating if players will have to wait for the robot to catch up in order to grab items. Not sure how your group will think about implementing that but it's something to think about! That's also great that you're helping out where possible with the tutorial, as an only programmer it must be a lot of work so getting assistance is the best to have.
