full transparency AKA Alpha of 0

is it permitted to make a sprite with alphas of  0 (IE. full transparency) outside of the core sprite region? like, making a white ring without any black pixels but instead full transparent

I would assume so, the example one bit art packs they linked use alpha 0 in their art

Yeah I was confused by "You can not use alpha in your art files" too. So everything has to be a square?

But I assume full transparency is ok, just not partial?

i guess the transparency is applied on the full sprite, for effects but no gradiants within the art itself
