The theme of the jam is Historical Fiction

The events of the story must be based on a notable historical event. This does not mean that the setting or characters need to be the same as the event. You can change the setting and characters all you want, but the plot must be based on the real event. I do not expect you to do in-depth exhaustive research for this game. It need not be strictly historically accurate at all, hence why it is historical fiction. The story simply must be broadly based on the event.

For the purposes of this jam, historical will mean a notable world event that happened 10 or more years ago. Anything that would be found in an encyclopedia of history would certainly count. If it has a sizeable Wikipedia page dedicated to it, it probably counts, but feel free to ask if you're not sure.

For example, you could make a science fiction game based on the Titanic about a space ship full of passengers that crashes into an asteroid, or a fantasy game with a fantasized version of how a real King came to power. Or you could make an actual historical game.

The characters and setting are completely up to you. Make it parody or serious as long as it's based on a historical event.
