Fun racing game, and the controls were fluid and easy to master. Need for Speed might wanna watch out. Good job :).
I was really impressed by the quality of your racing implementation! The graphics and gameplay reminded me a lot of old school Cruis’n USA in the arcades and on Nintendo 64.
I was able to find shortcuts on most of the levels and that enabled me to greatly shave down my times on stages. Stage 3: 21.81 Stage 4: 16.20 Final Stage: 22.15
I noticed the speedometer also mentioned NOS. Was there an ability to boost faster somehow? I did find out that “R” was able to reset your car position because I got stuck in some of the downtown areas when I was exploring.
Good whalepass integration.
Nice work!
I am so glad to hear you have enjoyed playing the game and yes, those games were inspirations! Alas we couldn't make it quite like Neodrift Out, our target game, but it is something and yes, all of the cars do support Nitro, but I disabled them to make the game a bit more challenging, until you found the shortcuts!!!!
Other than that if you press C on while in the game your camera will switch from a modern view to the classic view, the game was being made on that classic view but the levels looked much prettier on third person view so we kept them both, but it will be very challenging to complete the game on classic camera view now since the timers are set for third person camera mode.
The game is interesting but it doesn't fit into this game jam. But congratulations on the game, success!
Thanks, we tried to replicate one of my favorite arcade game from 1996, it's understandable if it doesn't feel quite like a retro inspired game but I would recommend that you change the camera view to classic view by pressing "C" and you should see more of what was our idea behind the game, however the third person camera gave the game just more decent feelings so we implemented both the camera systems.
