Simple, but cute game, which is simple to learn. However, it could be a bit harder, but also have a potential to be improved.
P.S.: Option to skip day (mentioned by GordyGirardi) will be the most important feature to implement and increase an entertainment.
Great concept and mechanics. I had a lot of fun!
I wold appreciate if you tried my game too :)
Glad you liked it. I'll give it a shot!
Thanks, it means a lot.
Hark! Cute atmosphere. The game was intuitive to learn to play even though I wish there was a bit clearer indicators for died crops and crops in their final form. Adding rooster sound to the beginning of the new day was a good choice. Pacing felt suitable. I was looking for some fighting scene (/illustration) between the attacks or at least Mayor Brittany appearing to praise my gardening skills, something like that would have been nice!
Thanks for the feedback! I agree with rewarding the player with some praise after an invasion. Perhaps in version 2.0
I enjoyed playing your game, good work on a short jam - hope you had fun. I have some constructive commentary in the polish and entertainment sections from my playthrough below :)
Theme: I see what you're going for with the 'growing of weapons', it's an interesting play on the farming sim where you might exchange your coins for weapons, instead you cut out the middleman and grow them yourself.
Creativity: The most creativity was in the intro - your 'medieval-speak' was entertaining. However the gameplay itself did not showcase your creativity through unique elements.
Technical Achievement: Good work on this submission in only a 48hr jam - the game played well with no noticeable bugs.
Polish: I would love the option to skip/fast forward to the end of the day. Often, I had watered all my plants and half the day left to wait. I think a game such as this needs the opportunity to pause as well - I was able to pause it by clicking out of the player though. (Food for thought)
Entertainment: Solid, and enjoyable. However, I must say I was disappointed that there was no 'visual reward' for me as a player after the invasion. I would have loved to see a battle animation - even if you only had created one for a win and one for a loss. I felt as though just ticking over to the next invasion countdown made me feel like I'd wasted '13 days' worth of time.
Bonus Points: Easy to load, ran well, looks sharp. After the invasion my defence resets to zero, but I had 'just' harvested a bunch of plants! It would have been better for me as a player to wait an extra day and start off the second round with a full field being harvested instead of unnecessary overkill in the first round. I learned for the following invasion haha.
Glad you enjoyed playing! Thanks for the feedback. We're definitely planning on making some of these changes after the jam.
Really cool game! I liked the idea I thought it tied really well with the gameplay and aesthetics, it was really fun and I liked the music and sounds, well done!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
i farm good, very happy.
but really, it's fun! I could see the concept being expanded on in the future and making a game I could sink my teeth into for a while. As it is, you would benefit from tightening the window between invasions-- before wave 2, I had reached over 800 defense, and only needed 150. It made it feel a little like I was wasting time on the second half of the time between waves, since I was already so far over the threshold. I kept faming so that I'd get the coin payout, but then ended up at a point where I had 10 of each seed in my inventory and all my plots full.
The game worked well, though, and I didn't encounter any real noteworthy bugs. There was a small matter of the pop-up for the scythe flickering on occasion, but it wasn't consistent to reproduce, so I'd say that's super minor!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed playing! :)
Might make some of these updates in version 2.0!
I can see how this can build into a fun game! The days go by a little slow so maybe the player should progress the day manually?
Thanks! Yeah, might have something like that in version 2.0 after the jam. xp
We had a similar idea, but the result is very different. The invasions take a while to arrive, but I really like the idea. And I'm not just saying that because I've also used plants as weapons :P
Thanks! Glad you like it!
