Second favorite game after IrishJohn.
It was me, I need to learn to start reading bloody instructions, it would make my life much easier, not just in this game but overall with unity assets. I like the style, ambient occlusion looks awesome. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for giving it a go.
Glad you liked it. :D

It needs a proper tutorial.
Ran out of time :P

Forgot to mention - the sound effects were excellent, not just the music (played it with xansd)

Music was great. The controls were almost really good, just couldn't climb the walls to the ceilings. The traps were fun. We got lost and couldn't find the exit. All the UI was pretty slick.

Developer

Thanks for giving CUBE a go.
I need to make a tutorial on the climbing system.
At the moment you need to Hold Left Shift if you want to climb the ladders, incl. the ceiling.
Then the tricky part is to Release the Left Shit when you want to enter a vent that is on the side walls.

I love this movie series! This was a fun version of it to play! I think while more difficult animation wise, it would be good to do a 3rd person perspective... at least I'd love to see a Cube game with that. Anyway, it was fun and once I actually looked at the instructions on how to climb ladders and crouch it was fine to play!

Developer

Thank you very much for having a go at it!
I really want to include a tutorial to get players started, as that would make controls a lot more clearer.

3rd person perspective would be really cool.
But I can imagine it requiring a lot of animation work yea. :D

Nice idea (great films to use as a starting point), and I liked the style.

Reaching the wall openings felt a bit weird, but once I got a technique down it was doable. It kinda felt like it could do with some mechanic to rotate the room or gravity or something to make it more fluid. That or using ladders (I thought they were at first but I seemed to snag on the walls all the time so just took to jumping).

Developer

Thanks for giving it go.
The ladders are climbable while Holding Left Shift.
I had some issues with the climbing mechanic, since when you reach the roof you still be able "climb" on them.
So it wasn't a straight forward up/down ladder.

Definitely something I want to continue improving on, as it would be awesome to nail it down for use in other games.

I've had a change of underwear since!

It was great, fair play!

I’ve never seen the move this came from and consequently I was a little lost on what the actual goal was.

Nice feel to the game, good job.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for giving it a go.
It's pretty much and escape without dying game.

The game gives you a sense of misdirection, so you have to map out how you move in your head.

In that case, I pretty much understood the goal. But I never got out… not surprising, my son is always laughing at me shouting “who the hell put that wall there” even in the real world ;-)
