I played the silly version. It was very funny, mostly because of the puppy and the baby dragon. I didn't quite enjoy the narration.

Riddles were fun, but being honest, I answered most of them by trial and error. The gameplay experience was odd and enjoyable, kind of surreal. Kuddos for how memories are represented. And I loved how the camera changes to focus the attention on some props (very Resident Evil-ish).

The way you interact with objects and NPCs feels weird, if players will be able to do only one action, why are there two clicks required to do that action. I mean, if, for example, you can "interact" and "examine", then clicking to choose one of those options makes sense, but if you can only "interact", or, in this game's case, "talk", then asking players for a second click goes against a good UX.

It would be fine if players can control when to pass to the next dialog line. I missed a couple of them because I didn't have the time to read (and my listening is not good enough to understand everything).

I'm not sure if I finished the game. I got to a scene with the puppy riding the dragon and Sir Kanon walking on water. I walked forward and fell out of the screen. Later I figured out that there was a mirror to the right, but I could not make Sir Kanon go back up to the water platform.

You finished the game. The mirror to the right was just for the credits. Good job getting through everything, and yeah we hoped to find more time to add more types of interactions with more stuff and NPCs. Yeah with the dialogue there was a lot that can be improved there, some things were fixed in the non-silly version.

I loved how much fun you had with the narration!! I'm very impressed by the implementation of all the narration, animations, riddles, and cutscenes! I sadly am struggling to finish the game, although I am curious what the ending is. The creatures the player encounters are very fun (Grog is great) and the puppy is adorable :)

I got pretty confused though when I got the puppy to go over to the rock and then opened the area that unlocks when the puppy barks. It was all closed off yet I thought I explored all the other areas? The little dinosaur dude in there was cute but he sadly wasn't interactable. The shark room just seems like a deathtrap and the rooms that unlock with the mushroom door don't seem to lead to much of anything. I'm probably just missing something but I'm stumped.

I got stuck (clipped) in two of the rooms/walls in the mushroom door area and had to load a save to get out. If I load a save though it doesn't seem to keep the progress I made on puzzles? For example, I saved in the area past the dog/rock combo then loaded it and the rock that I just got rid of to get back there was back in place.

Also, some of the textures on the rock walls were glitched out, specifically right next to the pawprints? rock and the rock past the dog/ancient rock.

If I'm being extremely nitpicky then a jumping animation would've been nice since you implemented the idle/walking/talking animations but honestly not a big deal that it's not there. Another huge nitpick but some of the text would go out of the black textbox for it, so just make the textbox slightly bigger. Some epic background music also would've been a welcome addition to add to the feeling of this grand quest.

I had a lot of fun playing this game overall, the silly narration definitely made me laugh a few times throughout so great job!! :)

Developer

Thanks for all your feedback, did you play the silly version? As the non-silly version fixed a lot of wall clipping and the dead zone was fixed too. Yes, I completely forgot to add background music but I did intend to add some originally... The shark itself was a puzzle that you could solve in 2 ways, by going through it or a special way around it.

I did play the silly version since that was the one uploaded before the end of the jam. Ahh okay, very cool game!!

I know there's a newer version uploaded 2 days ago, but I saw the one from 16 days ago is called "silly version" and knew that was EXACTLY what I wanted. I was not disappointed haha

I LOVE the goofy narration xD Kanon has the sassiest static pose too lol

I'm also a fan of riddles! This was overall a very fun experience c:

XD Thank you so much! Yeah it was a fun project.

Riddles are fun! I liked just how random the monsters you encounter are, and the voiceover that you were clearly having so much fun reading. I was confused by the ending though--there's a puddle, it turns into a lake, and some sharks swim through it, and then you reappear at the beginning? I thought I might have taken the wrong path but I tried again and picked a different path and just got the same ending.

Developer

That was not the end, just a different puzzle. There are a few more rooms past the shark if you can figure out how to either go around that room or find a way to have the shark not eat you.

I liked the vibe and how you struggled to read your own script :P But I found the seemingly endless riddles and diaglogue got a bit tiresome. It could be an idea to add some more variety to the gameplay

Developer

There is more variety further along.

The craziness is there the whole time and feels great :-)
Nice look, cool riddles and a very good way to show the player the way.

But then, there was a situation, where I have to press a key fast? I don't get this part...

Developer

Wow thanks for playing you almost finished the game! What did you not understand about the key press part? Did you not know what key or how often to press it?

Submitted(+1)

I guess both. There was an arrow wich directs forward. So I thought I have to press forward or use so often I can but that didn‘t work.

Developer(+1)

I added additional controls for this part btw so either up arrow or w works now.
