How does your game represent Mode?
In music theory, the term mode or modus is used in a number of distinct senses, depending on context. Its most common use may be described as a type of musical scale coupled with a set of characteristic melodic and harmonic behaviors. In the modern age, the Mixolydian mode applies to a scale whose 7th tone is minor, and offers a conflicting sound when compared to the rest of the scale. This idea of conflict is the basis of our game, Mixolydian: a fight to survive against all odds, one note at a time.
Controls:
WASD = Movement

Hard game! Really like the music theming, mixolydian mode was actually one of the first things that came to mind when I heard the theme that I didn't end up using. I like that the weapons and enemies all feel well fit to their musical meaning too. The slow tanky whole notes, the fast 8th notes (both the enemy and the weapon), it all feels right.
Would love to play a slightly rebalanced version that's a little more forgiving, right now I have to drop everything to take out any 8th notes as they just laser in on me. Overall great job!
I like that you need to switch weapons to kill the enemies.
Very original idea! We incorporated different musical modes into our themes as well, but didn't make that the basis of our game
A fellow Modal Music fan I see ;) The green attack seemed a bit weaker, maybe I was using it wrong but I think most of my deaths were with green. Nice theming though!
I really like the character, sprites, and use of sound.
nice job! i really like the graphics and sound design. combining a musical element with the different magic modes was a fun twist. The only major aspect missing I'd say is a score system.
