wow, this game deserves way more reviews. the shooting and visual effects are immaculate. the cutscenes and slight world building/lore are very impressive given the time restraints, and I love the idea for the game. my only critique is that I think there should be more of a restriction on how long you can stay or go into easy mode.
Most likely a grass goon spawned on top of you. If we had more time it'd probably be best to signal a warning right before a goon spawns, but as it is now as soon as a patch of grass reaches its max height it instantly becomes a grass goon. I'm not sure how noticeable it is, but we also have it so that the grass gets darker as it gets taller. I'm glad you enjoyed the game; hopefully this wasn't too frustrating!
Thank you for your feedback! I wanted saving flowers while in big mode to be a sort of strategy so that when you lose big mode you have flowers readily available to collect if you avoided them. But someone else has given similar concern to yours, so I think you are right that it would be more intuitive to prolong big mode when collecting flowers. And sorry about no exit button, that was a bit of an oversight lol, but as a workaround you should be able to press F11 to go into windowed mode and then exit the game from there.
I'm not a hardcore RTS fan by any means (my only real experience with the genre is with PA and SC2), but I really loved this game. Simple things like the sound effects and voice lines gives it a lot of personality! Also great satire. I agree with your design philosophy, and these antiquated attitudes you speak of are also quite present in the fighting game community as well.
AVOID BIRDS AND PLANES
TOUCH THE MOON TO WIN
MOVE USING A AND D KEYS
SPACE TO DASH (HAS MOVEMENT COOLDOWN)
very rushed and kinda unfinished but it works as a demo i guess.
also if any dll files are missing download them from google and add them to the same directory as "ZenoJam.exe"
