How does your game represent "Power"?
The goal of the game is to become the most powerful pirate in the sea. Being powerful enough to defeat an enemy instantly sends them flying off, the less powerful you are the smaller this knock back is.

Good game, enjoyed it quite a bit! Died to marines while hoarding to roll for swashbucklers, greed is feed :D
I can definitely see a Balatro style game coming out of this. That said, it wasn't entirely clear to me how all the mechanics worked. I haven't played a lot of games in this genre outside of Balatro, so maybe there are some mechanics that other people are able to intuit from experience that I am not.
I really like the theme and presentation. And you get bonus points in my book for Drunken Sailor.
Good job!
Thank you for playing the game! Yeah, in hindsight I definitely wish I put some text explaining the controls and mechanics in the first round.
This is awesome! With some additional varied card mechanics and some polish this would be an awesome game I'd actually play!
Thank you! I want to add more crew cards and try balancing everything out, I just couldn't in time for the deadline unfortunately. Definitely want to keep working on this though!
yar
Pretty good but more readable text would be nice
Thank you! You're right about the text, will fix that when I keep working on this
Fun mechanics, I just wish the numbers were bigger on my screen. Great art
Thank you for playing! Yeah that text can be bigger, I should probably add a background behind the number too for contrast.
To be able to play this game, you will also need to download this file: https://ryguydsi.itch.io/pirates-deck-datawin .
I forgot to include it with my original submission, the file worked on my PC and I didn't notice until a friend downloaded it on another computer. I am really sorry for this mistake.
Unfortunately I found a bug in the last few minutes of the jam that I was unable to fix in time. The player's crew cards that die (after their health reaches 0 and they "dust" away) are supposed to be removed from the deck, however they are not and can be played in other rounds.
