Game's take on the theme
After each boss battle, the player is rewarded with a list of powerups to choose from. There are 6 bosses and their order are not the same for every run. Besides, they will eventually battle in teams. So the player should build the protagonist's powers as the need and convenience arises.

The bosses turned out great and the game's really fun! The controls were a bit difficult to get used to but other than that great job!

Hey FartFish, Thank you very much for the feedback! Since the last Boss Rush Jam, I keep trying to think about more simple ways to control characters for action games. I want the characters to have a lot of capabilities, but without complicating the controls.. too much! 3 buttons was my choice, this time around! The Dash allows the character to cancel a lot (if not all) previous actions. I think that the novelty here is the spin attack, that allows the player to stomp (bounce) on top of the enemies. It also "shileds" the player when entering in contact with the enemies sideways. And if I'm not mistaken, even if you go from below to top, the player won't take hit! Except if it's not an enemy, but a bullet (enemy projectile).

My recommendation, as far as controls go, would be to use something akin to WASD+Mouse, just because it works super well and any quirks, e.g. adding Shift or Space to the mix, are very easy to quickly adjust to.

I see! I'll keep that in mind when updating the project and for the upcoming ones! Thanks!

it's quite hard but it's visually very nice. gameplay is enjoyable

(the menu is incredible for a jam, the key binding is great)

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, nyanpierre! I appreciate it! I made all the visual in one go, barely recurring to eraser, because of the schedule. Yes, the menu system and keybinding is something that I keep improving over time, so the players can make themselves more comfortable while playing.

This game is cute! and the fighting mechanics are really interesting! But hell that so hard! i feel that game needs some balance. (Maybe i don't know how to play :D I went through the tutorial though)

Thank you so much, nef.vgs! Yes, I have plans to balance the game properly after the jam. Don't worry about "how to play". Just have fun! That said, I have a hint about the game mechanic that can save the player when in a bad spot in the air. If you Hold Down and Jump, the character will start to fall in spin attack, regardless of any previous action. It's a life saver if the timing is right.
