Good

  • I like the music, well done if you made it :D
  • The graphics are simple but they work really well for the game. The particle effects on death are nice too (also on the menu, that looks good as well)
  • The rewind effect looks nice.
  • Level design is pretty good and the rewind mechanic is explained well (although I think I managed to cheat a level, explained below)

Could be improved

  • The bug mentioned by others where the replay is inconsistent. The boxes sometimes move differently when the actions are replayed, so in Level 2 the box sometimes moved too far to the right and went into the spikes in the replay.
  • I don't know if it was intended (probably wasn't) but in Level 4 I just ignored the box completely and used the pink player to boost the blue player to the exit by making the pink one constantly jump and using it as a platform for the blue one to jump on. I did a similar thing in Level 5 but I think it was intended there.

Overall, the game looks really good and has great music. Once you fix the bug about the replay being inconsistent and add some more levels, this could be a pretty good game!

Developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to write that all out! I did make the music, and the way you beat level 5 was the intended way, but level 4 was kind of cheated, but great job figuring that out. And as you said, there were some inconsistencies with the physics, and I could probably rework the rewinding to fix that. Thanks for playing!

No worries, someone used this format to give me feedback and I found it really helpful so I've been using it too :D

I noticed you've used bosca ceoil to make the music and if you don't mind I'd love to know what instruments you used. I used bosca ceoil too and I really liked the sound of the instruments in your music. I've just been using basic saw and square waves in the chiptune section.

I've found that playing with the low pass filter gives a nice sound, as with the chorus filter in the advanced section (I didn't use it for this song but it's still cool)

I'll be sure to try out the filter! Thanks for posting all the instruments, for my next piece of game music I'll try and use some new instruments and see if I can make something different to the music I've been making so far.

Developer

awesome! Good luck with that

Really nice concept :D Had fun playing it! Loved the graphical style as well.

Unfortunately, I found that the replay of your actions with your first player does not match exactly with the series of results that you produce while in control (the actions are consistently replayed, however the results that those actions produce mismatch).

Beside that, well done!

I'd love to here your feedback on my game ;)

Developer(+1)

I am aware of the bug, it happens due to the fact that the rewind system is not physics based. Thanks for playing! I will for sure check yours out

I was having fun, but a bug really spoiled my experience. The characther don't stay where I left them. But I love neon 10/10

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm sorry that your experience was spoiled:(

Really liked the game mechanic of rewinding to help another player! Reminded me of the game Brackeys made, Date Night. Although one thing i would like to point out is that maybe you could make a slight delay for when the player lands onto the box as i often land and then immediately jump again.

I appreciate the feedback, thanks for playing!

Great game but im the worst plataformer player of the world so i cant finish the third level .-.

The square rewind (the platform square, not the player) its a bit wird but the rest its really nice!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the box physics are a little wonky when rewinding. Thanks for playing!

I love the idea of this game, and music and visuals fit very well. It would be nice if the first player repeated its moves after ending, but apart from that really good game!

Definitely a good entry! I would appreciate if you could rate my game as well :)

Hey! Great game. I liked the minimalistic style of it. Reminds me of 'Thomas was alone'.

I've completed the game and I have some suggestions, if you don't mind:

  • Consider looping the time for the first player after the rewind. I had to jump 5-7 times while playing the first 'character' just to make sure that I will be able to be just in time to use it by the second 'character' to jump. However, sometimes I had to restart the level;
  • I think it would be cool, if you had to use both 'characters' to complete the level. Right now, you just have to use the first one so that the second one could get to the end of the level. Maybe, you could rewind more than one time, switching from one 'character' to another, using both characters' loops to beat the level;
  • Make more levels)

Anyway, excellent job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the feedback! I think all of those suggestions are cool, and really appreciate your input. Thanks for playing!

Enjoyed the mechanics of the game. Nice Job! Enjoyed the theme and color scheme. Keep it up!

I'd love to hear your input on my submission, I'm going to be continuing it after the jam so and criticisms / suggestions / feedback are welcome!

Developer

I will check that out for sure! I'm glad you enjoyed, thanks for playing!

Loved playing the game, the concept, the glow effect and the rewinding part :) Initial levels are easy, so good for beginners to figure out how to play. Can make the game really tough, like having the player think many steps ahead, like a good game of chess :) The music is perfect too, thanks for your tip on "How I Created a Rewind Sound Effect".  I will surely use in future games :)

thanks for playing! I'm glad my little tutorial helped out!

This was pretty fun! I like how levels rely on you jumping on the other player! One good thing would be to add a bit more complexity to some of the levels. It seemed like there were some levels where I could just bounce off the first player to win. Also, a few more levels would be good.

Great job though!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with you on the complexity issue, I honestly just ran out of ideas so I made 5 levels and called it a day with that, thanks for playing!

Impressive the effect of glowing in the textures.
I like how you handle the rewind issue, since it is like playing a game for two people being one
Excellent game my friend, please rate mine :)

Great game but i stucked at level five or four so i couldn't play it till the end

Developer

Sorry :( Thanks for playing!

nice game

Developer

thanks!

Great concept, I really enjoyed having to think moves ahead and map it all out first. There seemed to be a slightly strange thing where boxes would get twice the force applied after rewinding, but after adjusting how much I pushed them so much fun. Great job!

Developer (1 edit)

The physics were a bit odd because of my rewinding system, thanks for playing!

Great game simple premise but great execution.Maybe adding a trail to the past player can make the game better.Great work :)

Developer

You aren't the first to suggest that, thanks for playing!

Really nice game. I love how you executed the theme. Pretty cute game. Keep up the great work!

Loved the game! The time rewind mechanic really brings another dimension to the puzzles! Great effort!

I really like this game! It is a simple (though a bit unoriginal) idea that is explored a lot (maybe you could make a post jam version with more levels?) and the graphics and sounds are amazing and really relaxing.

Some of the puzzles are a bit straightforward but most catch you off guard. Level 3 really led me astray.

Anyways, only thing I have to say is that the rewind was a bit weird. It recorded the movement only and wouldn't repeat it perfectly. It might be a conscious choice but it does feel a bit weird.

Oh, and also the rewind effect looks really good but maybe it's a bit over the top. Maybe you could reduce the alpha of the rectangles a bit? I don't know, maybe I am wrong about this.

So yeah, great game! Hope you make a post jam version!

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! Yes, the rewinding system wasn't perfect, it came down to the fact that it wasn't 100% physics based in a physics game, and I also had to optimize it a ton so that it was actually playable without 2 fps, as for the effect, I see where you're coming from, and will try that out. Thanks for playing!
