In what way does your game fit the theme?
This difficult racing game requires you to constantly rewind the wind-up key to your toy car that you can drive around a bedroom.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, I made everything myself. The only thing I did not code was the original car controls and camera controls.

Great project! Maybe the music and something about the graphic (Baked lighting, etc...) could be improved. Moreover I think could be better to invert mouse movements and to make it less sensible. But I LOVE the physics of the car. Did you use some assets that already exists? Did you do it in your own?  if so, can you tell me where you learned to implement the car physics in this amazing way? thank you and well done ;) Finally, can you rate my game and leave some feedback? thanks!

Developer (1 edit)

thanks for the feedback! The car controls is using "Vehicle Tools" by Unity in the Asset Store. I agree on the camera controls are tough to use. Fixed it for the next update when the Jam is over. The lighting does need to be improved too. I agree on that.

Fun game! Nice work on the graphics and sound. The controls are a bit hard to figure out at first and the steering and camera movement could be a bit smoother. Check out my game when you have a chance. Thanks!

Developer

thank you for the feedback! Graphics took a long time

I liked it. I liked how hard it was to control the car, combined with the short duration of each level it made each run feel like a chaotically desperate run to the end. I would however increase the acceleration (maybe reducing the time limit) to allow you to get to the "good part" (i.e. being fast and uncontrollable) quicker.

The camera control is a bit weird. I'm sure the inverted controls (which I'm not used to) play a part in that, but I don't think it's only because of that. I would prefer having options, but I can live with the game as is.

My only real negative feedback is that rewinding doesn't really serve a strong purpose, you just need to press the mouse button repeatedly. Maybe you could use it for something else: for instance, you couldn't rewind and accelerate at the same time, basically forcing you to rewind at the start of the level and while you're airborne. But it's a minor complaint, the game is fine as it is.

Overall I quite enjoyed it. Good job!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. I agree the mechanic needs to be fixed. I added a feature in the latest update that penalizes you for rewinding it too much . So you are rewarded for keeping it balanced in-between and it feels much better. I can't wait to put out the update and see what people think about it. It will be updated when the jam is over.

Just finished the game, wish it was more challenging. I LOVED the physics of the car. The theme is a bit weak because you just have to keep spamming left mouse while you ride, but that's the only thing I didn't like. This game is really, really funny. I hope you'll update it in the future. An advice I can give you is to put 3 levels of difficulty, based on the time you have to reach the goal. Keep it up, you did a nice job

Thanks for the feedback! The rewind mechanic is much better in my recent updates. I just have to wait for the jam to end to upload my changes

I can relate, me and my friend recently improved our game as well. One week is just not enough, but that's the best part of jams imo

Developer(+1)

yeah that's true. i'm still happy with what I accomplished in a week.

Cool game! only complain i have is the mouse moving is inverted not sure if it is intentional.

Developer (1 edit)

its default for cinemachine. it wasn't  done intentionally. i realized how to fix it later

Good for start

Developer

Thanks

Cool game, i love all the little fourth wall breaks in the environment and the graphics themselves were charming, the handling of the car felt frustrating but fair (kinda like an ice level). Overall good game!

Developer

Thank you very much!

Very nice one! The visual appearance is quite atmospheric. Agree with others: camera movement feels reversed, and the rewind mechanics is a bit strange - forces you to simply click the mouse permanently. Nonetheless, good job!

Developer(+1)

Yeah i agree. Fixing that after the voting is over!

Great game! Love the graphics especially the blanket's material looking so realistic! Enjoyed it!

Developer

Yeah the blanket material looks really good. i was happy with that! glad you enjoyed it!

Ooh, similar concept to my game! 😀 I couldn't find the shoe box though. Any pointers on how you would play the game?

I also agree with the others, you can improve the camera movement, disable spam of the wind up mechanic, and add friction to the sliding of the car. I'm sure you'll figure it out, keep it up!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! The shoe box is a red box with a white cover next to it in the room. i should add something like a show logo or something to make it stand out more.

I liked this one, camera movement was annoying. I'd suggest making a system for rewinding so you couldn't simply spam it.

I liked the theme and the use of a car for the rewind. The movement of the camera was a bit weird tho. Polish this and the speed of the movement and the game will be even better!

Great work!

Developer

Thank you. I will :)
