Really well polished game, I don't even know how you did that with the graphics and the camera movement, it's so awesome!

In what way does your game fit the theme?
Stronger together - You are a little soul who needs the help of the other losts souls to escape the darkness by lighting the way out. More souls equals more light (to avoid falling our touching the obstacles). This is a game about companionship and kindness. 'Will the light of your soul be enough to light your way out of the abyss?'
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Original music, art and game mechanics were all made from scratch for this game jam!
We used and idle and a walking cycle from mixamo, plus some fonts from DaFont!

I adore the aesthetic of this game along with the concept of it, super fun game.
Great job.
The aesthetic of this game is so good! Loved how you took care of it. Also, I really like how the theme works with the light concept.
Thank you for sharing your game!
Great style. But on my monitor (I have a widescreen) left and right from the viewport was the default skybox visible, maybe in the next version set it to a basic black color.
Awesome concept, thematic and game play. The style is simple, jet so immersive in the story, where your main enemy is the darkness that surrounds the whole level and makes difficult to sea all kind of traps, obstacles and pits. Really loving the order command to stop and go, it could be implemented in many ways so your followers can interact and help you surpass some of the obstacles of the level.
The best part is how the shader works with every detail: map, assets, text. It really provides to the game the emotion of a 8 bit game with smooth animations and a simple, yet difficult and entertaining game.
Nice work and good luck to all the development team, keep the good job!
Awesome looking game, and it also sounds great. Cool and innovative interpretation of the theme!
Wonderful use of the theme, the aesthetics are really impactful, and the sense of atmosphere created with the minimal music and SFX really adds to the experience. Excellent.
A great idea which fit the theme indeed! I really like the graphics also. It is very special and innovative game. It has a lot potential. One problematic thing is that maybe design a first level which is easier to pass. Because it is a bit too hard to die LOL. And the whole progress is over.
This is a fantastic Idea and I absolutely love the atmosphere and art style. The warm lights of your buddys feels super cozy and while I had trouble saving them, I still wanted to just because the world feels so lonely. The audio helps out a lot with that too.
While these things come together very nicely I have some trouble with the game design aspects of it.
Some images here to illustrate things that caused a lot of frustration.

The lights create som banding which become very hard to distinguish from instakill ledges, this combined with that the player sometimes takes a few extra steps to finish the walking animation made me die so many times. I got stuck because I got very careful by the ledges but then turned out there are a lot of slight downhills that are walkable but they really look like killing ledges from the players angle. It took me many attempts to actually get that you can walk straight past the "watch your step" warning, it felt like that warning would teach me where not to go but having died a good 40 times in the game I am still not sure what the level looks like.
I got to the exit alone, and I gave it a good 20 tries to save my buddies but even in my most careful attempts, they kept falling of ledges that I tried to guide them around.
All in all this is a beautiful game with fantastic potential but I feel you need to work on some stuff to either make it less frustrating to die OR decrease complexity of the level OR give the player som better tools to avoid hazards. Thoroughly enjoyed my time in the lonesome scary world you built though, great job!
FredrikLazer!!! Oh my, where do I start, thank you so so so so much for this, the feedback is super useful, Im working on fixing those sneaky ledges and the other aspects you mentioned! We do have plans of expanding this game in the future, so we are definetly taking this into consideration!
And again, thanks so much for playing and taking your time to write this comment <3
I love the look of the game the pixel art like aesthetic in a game looks incredibly beautiful. The only thing is that the game seemed to kill my companion after I died, because he didn't respawn at the place and I had the camera rotated weirdly at the start resulting in me wondering why the screen is black. It also might be a nice idea to add a gamma slider so the visibility and darkness can at least by slightly adjusted to the environment. Nevertheless really nice game and very well done.
MathewHD!! Thank you so so much for playing! And thank you so much for the feedback, your companion died because he decided to follow you into the abyss (RIP poor fella), they keep following you even when you fall, so we are fixing their respawn points!
And yes, the gamma slider sounds like a really good idea.
Thanks again for the comment! (Ps. I really liked your game!)
Cool concept, the pixelated graphics fit really nicely to the atmosphere of the game.
