Haha awesome! I love the vim controls and especially love the little :cheat command which helped get me used to the controls without worrying about dying.

This is a fun and neat concept, great job!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! That was one of the motivations for putting the cheat code in. I wanted it to mostly be an educational type game, but with some fun added in. I hope to someday add more commands to the available ones since there are SO many more things I could do with the vim commands.

Thanks for playing!

Nice - didn't realize the first time I played it had the command system. Watched the video and became UNSTOPABLEEEEEEE!!!!BWHAHAHAHAHAHA

Gotta have a secret cheat mode! Haha

Nice! Very retro. Nice simple graphics and sound, like console/commands system.

Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!

Good job! I really like the jump and ground fire animation.  Gameboy green always hurts my eyes (i think im the only one haha) Play Puma Cat if you have time.  Good work!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you liked it. I'll check out Puma Cat. :)

An interesting game where the main challenge seems to be learning to best utilize the controls and commands. Would have loved to have seen some way to change the direction of the attack, maybe through a command? Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the input! That was going to be one of the next things I did. In vim, pressing d and the left arrow, or h deletes to the left. I wanted to put that in, as well as a bunch of other commands, but I ran out of time.

It's a nice game. The graphics are especially good!

Thanks! That's one part I was really self conscious about when I was going into this as I do not consider myself to be a very artistic person. I watched a few tutorials on YouTube and the help of the color constraints, I am also very happy with how they turned out. :)

Really nice idea for a game, but I'm neither a VIM nor Emacs fan :D Just way too young to use any of the two tools. I was really struggling with the commands and just couldn't get my head to work with it. The graphics are nice.

Believe it or not, both of these text editor are still very important. It may seem like they're for super old people from a time where computers didn't have graphics, but if you become a systems administrator, you will likely have to access some servers remotely from time to time. You could do a ton of work to get a file on one of those servers to open in a graphical text editor, or you could just open it quickly with vi.

Either way, thank you for playing my game! Glad you liked the graphics. :D

I know that both editors are still in use, but for my daily work I don't need them and that's the reason I'm nor learning how to use them :D But I don't want to start this discussion now :D Some of my colleagues are using Emacs to write RTL code for our sensor chips which would be way easier with and IDE like Eclipse, but you just can't get them to change. But as long as the code is written correct and everything is working, all is fine :D

That's a neat command line input scheme that you've made here! The controls take some getting used to. I really like the Gameboy style graphics.

Thanks! Glad you liked it. The command line scheme and controls are part of the vi command line text editor. I wanted to make it a kind of educational game for those in IT.
