I liked your game very much. It was simple but fun to play. I loved the gold star mechanic, havnt seen it that often So i was super excited to craft more of them .
I have one thing to say about balance, I used the rusted knife which poisons the enemy very often. That state is super OP BUT I noticed a lot of bosses have HUGE hp pools and how is the player supposed to kill those without the poison state? I mean they can but it would take a lot of time. So nerf the hps and the state, my opinion.
Also the final boss was a bit anticlimactic cause I killed them with one shot with the knife that can insta KO, did I got super good RNG? or that 1ko is luck(stat) based? cause i had it pretty high.
Any way, your game is really good, fun to play and the length is perfect .
Oh another thing, if an enemy doesnt drop gold you get nothing at all? it felt a bit unfair, having some bosses drop a lot and then getin excited fighting the next one and bam, no gold at all.
Thank you! I plan to work on the balance once the Jam is officially over. The KO knife is set at like 40% chance, but it seems to work all the time. I plan to reduce the HP of like the second half of the bosses. Also I have a map that I had to cut out for time, which will help with the levelling. I think.
I normally go into detail about what I liked and didn’t like about the game, but Human’s review sums up my thoughts so well that I’ll just refer to his review.
Really nice maps and visual design. Icons, menus, enemies, font all looked amazing. Battles started out pretty cool, but eventually it was just about poisoning bosses and waiting it out. My skills ended up being more or less obsolete compared to thousands of damage done with each poison. There were also a bit too many battles with the same enemies. Final bosses both also died in one hit. . . maybe a testing error that wasn't reverted?
So a few bugs, but it looks like you're aware. Easy to miss those in a time crunch. Overall the game played very smoothly, and the bugs did little to detract from the experience. Story arc was kind of interesting too.
Yeah, I didn't give my self enough time to balance the battles better. Thank you for playing and commenting. I appreciate it.
Your maps are super nice and I like the idea, but when I went to the Inn it broke the game.
I have some bugs to fix after jam is over. Thanks for playing!
I like the mapdesign, the crafting system and how enemies drop the stuff in front of you. Unfortunately I got some gamebreaking bugs and many pattern weren't set right. So I could run outside of the map (like in the thief hideout) and move through laterns. 1 Bug occur after talking in the Inn (soundbug) and another after I talked to the guy in front of the thief hideout (I was standing down and he could move down).
I made some last minute changes to tilesets, so that explains the mapping issues. Also why you were able to get stuck at the hideout guard. Originally, you couldn't stand below him. I'll check out that sound bug too. I guess I was beaten by "crunch time" lol. Thanks for playing my game!
Well I told you about the latern. You can go through and talk to him downwards.
And btw. it was a pleasure to play your game. It was really inspiring.
