1  month long jam?! Wow. Better have the  theme on lockdown lol. Gotta make it harder. No “Xmas space game” stuff. Maybe specific game type? Like,  whoever makes the BEST platformer with x theme wins. Complete ready to release only games. Something that would take a month to make. Hoping that’s the plan anyways. You guys should have each saved bbdoc have an interval time stamp that shows creation date. To help eliminate cheaters.

Hey Josh! Yeah, 1 month long! It's tough to choose themes that prevent cheating and also don't limit the user's creativity. This next theme is pretty awesome. I think you'll like it and be inspired. :) Oh and it's impossible to cheat because I shut the submission form down right at the end so no one can go over time. (Zack)

no I meant cheat as in use a previously made project. So have it so you can see bbdocs initial creation date. If it shows it was made initially in 2018...then they didn’t start a new project and instead re-themed one they already built.

All of us are confused tho on WHY 1 month long? Never heard of a jam that long.

Take a look at the jam calendar, you will see 1 month long jam is not unusual.

I have seen a jam 10 years long. Pixel Game Maker Jam is 6 months long.

"All of us are confused tho on WHY 1 month long?"

1 month long jams are far from unheard of. As ZackGriest stated, if you look at the Itch.io jam calendar, a large amount are exactly one month long. For example, the PowerPoint Game Jam started on the first and ends on the 31st. There are tons that are even longer than that.

Buildbox can make their jam however long they want.

ah I see what you're saying now. No need for concern, we have plenty of ways of determining whether a submission broke the rules. There are many reasons why we decided to change the length of this game jam, but the biggest reason is because we want as many people to be able to participate as possible. Many boxers were unable to make the last game jam because it happened during a weekend they couldn't make it. I understand that a month long game jam is something you're unfamiliar with, especially because we have only done 3 day game jams in the past, but it is not uncommon and you can expect that we will have a lot more game jams and they will vary in length. (Zack)

right o. Of course they exist. It’s just the common jam length is hardly ever a month long.  Was wondering WHY 30 days was the choice. Which you answered. Makes sense.

right on man! Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with! Also, I expect BIG things from you this game jam haha ;) I have a feeling you're going to really like the theme tonight.

areeeee you suggesting my last two entries where trash? Lololol. I won’t ever win because I don’t try to make hyper casual games. Those seem to be the only ones that ever win. I try to make VIDEO GAMES. That’s where I mess up. So perhaps this round I will do like lost and load a template or clone a game and just super polish it. Lol. Yes I’m still arguing that haha.

you was right. This jam is right up my ally for sure. Woot!

haha dude your games are always awesome. You've always been a finalist. I have a lot of confidence in you :) So glad you dig the theme (Zack)

Umm.. I'm new and my game will not be great!! So I would not like chearters of course!

all it takes is the right combo and polish of the simplest game design to possibly win. So don’t say that. You could easily take home 1st.

Thanks, I'll try
