We are sending out a message to you all this week updating you on the judging announcement. Stay tuned!

Hi There!

All submissions that were submitted before the deadline count. Both on itch and google form. Some people got confused so we do accept itch submissions before the deadline.

Best,

Zack

The reason we ask for dropbox is because many people forget to allow access to the bbdoc file when using google drive. It's ends up being a lot of back and forth. It's much easier to simply use dropbox. We will accept Google Drive as well, but it helps to give access correctly when doing that.

Hi Bill! When you submit your game, you should see this after completing the form:

I recommend holding off on releasing your submission. We are going to do our best to look for other opportunities for the best submissions so it's advantageous to wait a little while.

Make sure to use our google submission form instead of Itch.io

Sounds good Marko! I can't wait to see your game! :D

You can make both 2D or 3D games and either style can win. We had quite a few 2D finalists last time. It was interesting though, we had way more 3D game submitted than 2D games last time. (Zack)

haha dude your games are always awesome. You've always been a finalist. I have a lot of confidence in you :) So glad you dig the theme (Zack)

right on man! Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with! Also, I expect BIG things from you this game jam haha ;) I have a feeling you're going to really like the theme tonight.

Good question. I will add this to the FAQ section. We do this because we keep your submissions private to prevent cheating and the itch.io private submission process is complicated for many. (Zack)

All games are the property of the developer, however by submitting your game, we do reserve the right to use your submission for marketing purposes. This is because we need to be able to show the winners and other finalists. (Zack)

ah I see what you're saying now. No need for concern, we have plenty of ways of determining whether a submission broke the rules. There are many reasons why we decided to change the length of this game jam, but the biggest reason is because we want as many people to be able to participate as possible. Many boxers were unable to make the last game jam because it happened during a weekend they couldn't make it. I understand that a month long game jam is something you're unfamiliar with, especially because we have only done 3 day game jams in the past, but it is not uncommon and you can expect that we will have a lot more game jams and they will vary in length. (Zack)

Hey Josh! Yeah, 1 month long! It's tough to choose themes that prevent cheating and also don't limit the user's creativity. This next theme is pretty awesome. I think you'll like it and be inspired. :) Oh and it's impossible to cheat because I shut the submission form down right at the end so no one can go over time. (Zack)

The free version is coming out VERY soon! I think that will help you out a lot! We will also be having more jams so you should be set!

Woohoo! Awesome! Glad it got figured out!

That's awesome man! Can't wait to check it out!

Also, on the game jam landing page is our official countdown.

You should be able to see the Official Countdown here: https://www.tickcounter.com/countdown...

Yes! Send in whatever you have! We understand that you have a limited amount of time so please send in whatever you complete before time runs out!

Thank you for posting this here as well!

Glad you were able to find the theme!

You might need an updated version of the software. The most current version of the software can be found on the forum here: https://www.buildbox.com/forum/index.php?threads/buildbox-3-0-2-3252-official-is-live.18040/

Hi There! You should have all received an email with a link to the Game Jam theme video. We also announced it on the forum, discord, social media and YouTube. Hope everyone is wrapping up their entries! Can't wait to see what you all made!

You do not need to only coding, but we do have the option of coding with javascript if you want to.

Hey Sarainia! Don't worry if you can't make this game jam! We are going to have one every month from now on!

You can download Assets from the Asset Library within the software

No worries! Yeah! You want to try and make a game in 3 days using the Buildbox software.

Right on!

Hey Sam!

You should be able to see a countdown clock to the game jam on the itch.io landing page. Does it not work for your time zone?

Also, when I release the theme and bonus challenge, I'm planning on releasing the countdown to the end of the game jam then as well. It should also show up on itch.io too! Let me know if the countdown on itch.io doesn't work for your time zone.

Best,

Zack

Hi Relayx! Unfortunately, we are only accepting BBDOC's for this Game Jam. Feel free to use either Buildbox 2 or Buildbox 3.

Best,

Zack

I've got 50 entries so far ;)

I will accept your last submission before the time runs out. I will only accept one game however. Just the last submission before the time is up. Then I can no longer accept submissions. It wouldn't be fair.

Hey Boxers,

There have been problems with the itch.io servers and submission process so I am making a change early on right now since only 3 people have submitted their games so far. To submit your game for this game jam, you need to email your .bbdoc to me at support@buildbox.com before midnight on June 3rd PST. I tried to send this email to everyone earlier, but itch.io only allows me to send 1 email to you all every 24 hours. I have created a video explaining everything and how to submit your game to us:

New Submission Process Video

Here is also a new countdown timer you can use to keep track

New Countdown Timer

I apologize for the technical difficulties, but I'm taking this measure to make sure that your games are protected. I will be closing submissions for this Game Jam on itch.io, but you will still be able to email your games in to me at support@buildbox.com before midnight on June 3rd PST. So, please do not think that the game jam is over, even though it will say so on the game jam page. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, but I wanted to do this to make sure everything stays fair.

Best,

Zack

yes! and Hyper Casual does not have a super narrow art style.  You can look at the top games released by Ketchapp and Voodoo as a reference
