Really fun with some good controls.

I like also how approchable the difficulty feels, the fact that you don't just instant die but loose hp and get just powered down a bit on hit allows to be able to eventually get back up and get going with the pickups.

I like the artstyle, a nice mix of colorful retro sprites with road rage XD the music is pretty good too, though the main level music is a bit on the discrete side considering the pure mayhem of bullets on screen.

Speaking of discrete my only gripe (but more of a nitpick honestly) is that the pickups tend to be a bit hard to see among all the rest, even if this is partly eliviated by the fact that you auto attract them towards the player kart.

Not much issues otherwise, it seems really polished already.

Well done :)

Positives

  •  This game feels more polished and complete than than a jam game!
  • Approachability and player-friendliness was definitely top-notch with the simple commands and the very readable controls right in the title screen.
  • Art is top-notch, and the screen transitions are a huge part of what makes it feel like more than a jam game.

Negatives

  • SFX were a bit on the loud side at times, and a bit too shrill in places. Filtering out the highest frequencies would go a long way, and wouldn't necessarily "damage" the 8-bit aesthetic since old systems had lower sample rates (thus a lower high frequency limit).
  • I can't really see the relationship to the "Confined" theme here. One of the gameplay gifs does show what looks like a jail car, yet I didn't come across that one in my playthrough (maybe because I suck, but alas :P). Didn't give it a 0 or 1 because that's my fault for sucking, but I gave it a 2 because I feel like the jam theme could've made clear from the start, or at least early on in the game.

A nice game with good controls! I didn't find myself using the slow down key that much, though. The main game art is beautiful, and theme works. UI audio was a bit too loud, but otherwise audio worked really well. I did enjoy the bullet patterns, but with that one fast enemy (who goes "yeeeeee!") leaving behind trails of bullets, the second trail was a bit unnoticeable for me, took a couple of hits from that before I realised what made the damage. Overall, an enjoyable experience!

We'd greatly appreciate if you checked out our submission! :)
