cute game with some very interesting mechanics! the controls could do with a little improvement - does the player's collision extend all the way to the top of the fire? feels a bit off. trying to protect the candle and combining the 2 types of jump was very fun, and the checkpoints being matchboxes is a nice touch!
Thanks for playing! The flame colliding was truly a discussion topic in our team, since it is not a solid object, but being able to put the flame inside a wall would mean you could just hide the flame from any hazard, so we decided to go this way on the end.
Very cute and polished little game! The music was nice, the sounds were adorable, the gameplay and levels were engaging and I especially liked how the candle was the thing that determined a fail state which resulted in a unique approach to how the levels work.
Can't get enough of the falling on the ground animation too ahaha
It's a fun game!
Ty!!!! The whole team put tons of effort into coordinating and getting those really cute vibes. I also loved jono's approach on the forward jump animation; matcha's sprite at the ending scene is actually made of individual frames of that animation that were adorable by themselves
Very lovely! I liked the idea of having two types of jumps that you can chain together, and also the idea of having the protect an object taller than your main character, very interesting stuff! Althought I am not that good at this kinds of platformers, and to me it was hard to properly calculate when to dive (with space) while jumping. I did beat the game, but had to repeat some segments more than a few times. Lastly, loved the credits theme being a redition of the happy birthday song. That was a fantastic touch!
Glad you enjoyed Pablo! Music was made by Arky (lilfurro in discord), and indeed he did a great job on the ending music, most probably I would have put the "The End" text as soon as you put the candle on the cake and called it a day, but it would have felt like wasting a song that was clearly made with much love
love this game, i'm unfortunately Very Bad at platformers so i didn't get far haha, i feel bad making matcha cry so many times ;o; i also ended up above the map at some point ^^;; overall very fun and chill!! love the music too <3 oh and the checkpoints being matchboxes is genius, what a cool touch!!!
I may have got a bit out of hand with difficulty, people seem to have a hard time on the first turret and it was supposed to be the tutorial so there's a lesson for me on level design lol. The matchboxes were made by cheeze (cheezenim on discord)
I noticed that there's no game attatched to your reply, did you participate on the jam in a team? 👀
ah no, i started on a solo project but didn't manage to finish much ^^;; i'm just happily browsing everyone else's submissions!!
Yeah, same happened to me on my first jam (you just have to see my other game here on itch, it ended up being an unplayable mess cause neither me nor my artist had enough time to finish it), still it's good to see you here playing our games, hope you are having fun!
very cute game, appreciated the save points. I felt so bad every time Matcha tripped or dropped the candle. the animations were too cute.
thanks for playing Echo!!! Matcha's animations were made by Jono (sevenninetwo792 in discord), and indeed they are cute as hell, especially the jumping forward imo, glad you enjoyed it!
loved the game! difficulty was just right, and the level design is very good, great job
ty!!! Not gonna lie, the levels were made on a rush since at that point we were already getting short on time, I'm glad it turned out well in the end (maybe a bit harder than the initial idea, but still playable for most as it seems!)
loved the music, arky did not make me say this
are you the guy who found the skip above the map
you are banned from my game man ima find your house and walk over your ceiling see how that feels
noooo, ME? I would never skip 2/3 of a game on my first run just to spite my good friend Arky by abusing unintended features
great game tho, loved the super mario ceiling skip reference
aye ty
What a nice game, good challenge with lot of checkpoints too! Pixel art was charming.
Thank you! I tried to make it charm and relaxing, but I always manage to make challenging levels somehow, the artists really put that vibe into the game though
