It's really a good game. I will be so happy if there would be a tutorial about the search effect!

Great game! Interesting mechanic and fun to play.
Good job!

Really good game! I feel like it's a bit too hard though.

Very good game, and it fits the theme somehow. The retro art style is nicely well made, and the sounds effects are very intersting! I always liked this concept with the sprite mask that hides an entire new world. It's a little hard too and you want to play more to descover the level!

Here is our game, if you want to check it out:

Thanks. Very nicely done back to the basics of the genre

Actually really good idea. I would have liked the autoscroller was a little bit slower so you have time to use your search tool. I understand you have to put it so the player doesn't play too safe but in many situations you don't have time to use it and think of the proper route you have to take and in the end it becomes a trial and error process.

But don't get me wrong, i liked a lot, pretty cool idea.

Great game, Enjoyed it!

Firstly- Praise be unto thee! Your teachings have shaped my game-dev life! <3

Secondly- Awesome entry! :D Loved the main mechanic and its different uses (Each new revelation gave me an "Ahhh thats clever" moment) the only drawback is that after learning something once it became more of a memory game than a detective one. But yeah, great graphics and gameplay all round- ty for a fun (And infuriating) few minutes :D

It is a clever interpretation of the theme. Seeing all the feedbacks already done I would avoid to duplicate them. I just want to say that i love the way the hat of the character hops when he jumps :-)

Finally I am able to rate a game of the man who started off my game development journey. Your videos are the best.

So, now to the game. It's good, but not great. I have a lot of points that could improve the game, but let's start with the good points. I think you the theme is very well executed and the game is really lying a lot to you. I would also say that the game is innovative although it is somehow similar to the dreadful whispers from which you might have taken the reveal idea.

Now to the points that need some improvements:

  • The first thing I'm not ok with is the camera, as some have already mentioned. The part where you have to jump to the left two times is really tough with the constant moving camera. My solution for that would be having a normal camera controller that follows the player and adding a moving death zone with the speed of the current camera. This would mean that the player can run ahead and check the area and also can go back easily if he run ahead of the death zone before.
  • You already should have found out that there is the bug that you can just hold down left mouse button and have the reveal area always active :D But I also think that it does somehow not feel right with the power bar. No idea how to make it better, sorry.
  • Checkpoints. This game should have checkpoints. Going through the first part over and over and over again is really annoying. Especially if you die to a stupid mistake early on. Maybe 2 or 3 checkpoints would have been nice.
  • I appreciate it that you did your graphics by yourself, but they are not really good and somehow, let's call it, inspired by super mario.
  • What is the point in collecting the coins? Other than them tricking you into running into spikes :D

I think that's it. I hope my feedback helps you improve this game or make future games better.

Maybe you find the time to checkout our game. Would really love to get feedback from you.

That was great! Really original, I found myself memorizing the levels to save my "investigation" time. Great job, had a lot of fun with it. Please check out our graphic adventure game too if you can : )

The reveal mechanic was intuitive and very easy to use, and Detective Truth is adorable. I love his hat wobble when he jumps.

The reveal circle isn't forced off when you run out of juice for it, allowing you to hold down the mouse button forever with no consequence. I also found the screen scroll speed to be a little too unforgiving.

Definitely follows the theme very well!
