How does your concept engage in the jam's themes?
Our concept focuses on the aspect of animals affected by human activities and the loss of their habitat.

Use of Theme / Inspiration
We were inspired by the discussions surrounding the loss of animal habitats around the world due to human activities, it was a compelling topic that we wanted to make our game about. We plan on incorporating the theme into our game by designing the levels, art and story over this, where we can present the negative effects directly to players through engaging gameplay and story.

I like y'all's clear focus on impact of humans on animals, I think that is a very important topic. I like all of your brainstorming docs, but I wonder if perhaps you can make a clearer main player-character? I can see what you are trying to do, but I think the idea would come across a bit better if I knew who I would be paying as (some animal dislocated due to human activity?) and what I would be doing.

Thank you for the feedback. We are currently designing the main character, the idea we have is an elf for now.

A platformer/visual novel with each mini level + boss touching on a different type of ecological destruction seems a really good idea! Though the scope is quite large, the idea has plenty of flexibility to have more/less levels + characters based on your capacity as you continue - though I'd say maybe it'd be worth thinking of upgrades + item variety as fun stretch goals to include at the end rather than integral elements. Your mood board of pixel art inspirations makes me excited to see the game develop, and the selected theme of presenting animal's perspectives will be really interesting; I think challenging anthropocentric approaches to climate change is an important point!

Good luck, I can't wait to see what you come up with for the next sprint 😊

Thank you for your feedback! We are taking your advice into consideration, and we are going to adjust the scale of the game if needed. We chose the level formate for this reason.
