Worked pretty well for me, I got to the end. Some nice ideas in here and was fun to blast stuff, except when you blasted through as wall and it took out the chests on the other side :)
I'm actually super happy this game worked fine for a couple of people, I won by absolutely rushing to the end before falling down under the level but the game, if a bit short, seems pretty cool otherwise.
Its a solid start but has a couple of game breaking technical issues. Being able to decent is a nice idea but does not work very well technically. I tried the workarounds and ended up outside the level.
The idea to trade power for live is good and that worked out okay. I would like to see more of the tile I am standing on, especially if I can strafe left/right.
Are you going to continue working on it?
I might, I would probably do a substantial rework to fix the bugs and crashes. A lot is due to the number of physics elements that are being rendered needlessly.
Yeah, I also had the falling down problem but used steamknight's workaround to get through and I completed the game. Nice work. Could certainly use a bit of tweaking here and there, especially on that falling part and a few visual bugs, but otherwise it was short and sweet. Nice interpretation of the theme.
Falling down does not work properly, I can't fall down for a while then end up below the level. A bit of a shame because the game seems smooth and punchy, I like shooting hidden doors to explosion.
I love the atmosphere of your game, the audio works very well with your graphics. The bouncy effect when you rotate your character made me a bit nauseous, but besides that, lots of good ideas here. Great job!
I dont see the theme...
I also struggled with controls.
And I can only dedicate a limited time to each entry.
Seems like a good start, but needs to be further baked.
I floated for a bit, mildly confused.
I liked how you handled the theme by trading health for power. For a long time, I couldn’t figure out how to go “down,” and it seemed that the way to do it was to hit the Windows key, which would bring up the taskbar, and I’d go down a level when I returned to the game. Unfortunately, put me out of bounds when I got to the room with the giant dragon.
It crashed seconds after loading a level. Also I recommend placing both files in a zip file. I think tyhe crash was me pressing start game several times because the game was loading and that was a problem? So I tried again and it worked. Very cool! I loved changing weapons and getting a cold attack. Also I appreciate the strong mood.
Yeah, I thought it would be smart to make every movement unit an individual block instead of prebuilt sections... so its trying to manage a lot of stuff unnecessarily.
