Hey All! I'm new here to the jam and I'm looking to potentially teaming up with a great team! I have 20+ years of experience in illustration and have years of experience with Photoshop and Illustrator. I've written and illustrated my own comic book, and frequently exhibit at comic conventions around the nation. I've taught character design and digital illustration  courses at University. My dream job is to work in the video game industry!!

I can mimic many styles but I'd say my main focus is more graphic / comic book-ey type digital illustration.

Here is my portfolio website:https://www.derekwk.com // Instagram: @derekwk

Feel free to reach out/ connect if you'd like to team up! I'm looking forward to making something awesome with you!

Looks cool! Can you also do animation or at least idle and attack pose?

Hey! Thanks for taking a look and kind words! Unfortunately don’t know too much on animation. I’ve done a few gif loops, but am definitely wanting to learn more! If idle and attack poses are needed I have a lot of experience with figure drawing etc. Thanks!

Got some stray thoughts when it comes to ideas on expanded details/portfolio, if going on a minimalist bent.

  • You don't 'need', animated images for enemy characters, let alone any sprite. Though it could be a great skill to learn!
  • "Lazy" animation wise, a programmer/coder could always get away with some flashing/color shifting of the sprite asset/s done.
    • Any effort past that (and heck, even just colour shifting as is), can fall under the "animated effects" tier of art.
  • Depending on the planned scope of a team's project (it should be small!), chances are you'll be drawing more than a handful of enemy monsters, or even graphics.

I can probably, maybe cite more detailed thoughts on the lines of concurrent development. But I'd feel it's probably better of learning through communicatio, and trial by error.

Past that. If you're willing, I wouldn't mind you joining up with us. Throw me a message if interested.

Thanks;
A
