Let people know how long has this project been going, or share a bit of its history.
So I had to look at my first commit to the bitbucket repo for this project and the date was 2018-09-30. I took me almost 3 months of spare-time development to get it done... well to get it to the state that is now. When you can say that a game is really finished? :D

This was the first 'complete' game I made since I started using Unity and other tools like MagicaVoxel for the game graphics. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out especially because I was able to do a pretty decent graphics and that is definitely not my cup of tea.

For the near future I would like to continue making small games like this to improve my skills and have fun. Hopefully my next project will take less time to complete.

Now I'd like to have your feedback on the game , I hope you will enjoy it.

Cheers!

Surprised at how addicted I got to this game, but I definitely wanted to try again and again to improve my score. I agree with Dumivid's comment below about adding a mechanic for the player to use, even if it's like a special power up that can only be used once. Just something so I don't only jump over aliens the whole time. Maybe it's something the alien ship can drop randomly? In any case, great starting idea and very nicely done artwork!

Developer

Ehy Pfail, yes there was a complete list of 'new' game mechanics pending in my TODO list for this game but if you start adding you'll never stop and this one was kind of a prototype. I don't think I will be adding anything new now I want to work on more different small project to really improve my skill and try different thighs. I also encourage you to try my latest attempt to create something with my latest project 'Lily's Adventure'  ,  something I did for the 10th Creative Game Jam.

Cheers!

Funny and easy to understand game, wich is very great and indicates some good design choices. Yet, my main complain is the "lack of interactivity". You feel like a witness who can't interact with the world. If you can find a w ay to make player more engaged with 1 aditional game mechanic, you will improve considerable your idea. Anyway, congratz with your game.

Developer

Ehy Dumivid, thanks for your comment. You are right and you are not the first one to comment on that lack of interactivity. The think is that I need to get better at coming up with cool mechanics and I get that a game that is just 'random' doesn't have to much appeal to a player. Thanks again for your feedback, my future games they will be better!

A really simple game, in the best sense of the word. It's very easy to just start and enjoy, thanks to the simplicity. And, although simple as well, the art style, animations, feedbacks... just work well together and make it a pleasant game. Good Job!
That change in tone at the intro also took a good chuckle out of me.

Thank you for your feedback, I am really happy that you have enjoyed playing it and thanks to your comments I will be able to improve my future games!

There is a lot to like here, I really love the voxel style graphics.  Even though it's a simple idea I think you've shown some good polish, and I was especially impressed by the feedback - sounds effects, particles and screenshake all used really well to make it 'feel' nice.  Made me laugh how the intro screen was so sinister and then it was all bright colours and honky-tonk piano!

Developer

Ehy thanks for your feedback! Yes I had a lot of fun making it. I like polished graphics even when making small games/prototypes because I think it is something that at some point you need to reach to get the new 'gamedev' level if you know what I mean, especially if you are indie working alone. I'm trying to get better and better with time.  Yes I thought it would have been fun to make a sinister intro and then, like you said, honky-tonk piano.. :D Glad you enjoyed it.

The visuals are great, especially for a first game! I liked that you could run from left to right through the edge of the screen. The game was pretty difficult due to the randomness of the colors dropped, I was consistently getting 2, then somehow I got all the way up to 31! It's an interesting idea, but without a way to really save yourself apart from getting the correct color drop, it's a little frustrating. The first thing I tried was to jump on one, and then I thought maybe the ship was dropping them where I was standing, but neither were the case. Hope you keep developing games, I'd like to see more projects from you. :)

Ehy Adam, thanks I appreciate your feedback. Regarding the game difficulty I didn't bother too much searching for the right/better mechanic. I wanted something easy to implement just to prove that I could somehow have a "finished" version of the game. I hope to keep developing games and get better also at choosing the right mechanics, for now my goal is to improve my graphics skills (voxel art) and try to develops prototypes for game jams, I have few ideas that I'd like to explore. There is so much to learn and apply.

Thanks for spending time to play my game and to provide feedback!
