What a great work, you can clearly see the time and effort put in. My favourite game so far <3
Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!
Very nice artwork, nice concept. Liked the warp mechanic, does require a bit of mastering but clever idea. Didn't quite understand the cloned guy?? Unless I missed the instructions for him somewhere (I did left the level 1 unfinished and progressed to level 2). Also didn't understand what TimeJuice meant. I did get stuck at level 2 at some point and didn't know how to jump really high after a spike platform. As others have commented, spacebar doesn't work for skipping intro. Also, where is a pause button or exit to main menu??? I was stuck and desperately trying to find a way out of the game :p
One question: How on earth did you manage to zip a 6GB game down to a less than 800MB file?! I struggled to cut down on my game from 1GB+ to 970MB or so, and then when I zipped, it was still at 930MB! What did you use???
Great effort overall guys
There's a checkbox in the packaging settings in Unreal Engine's Project Settings down a bit to select Compressed package files, have you trying engaging that already (if you are on UE)?
Thanks, yes I did. It helped a lot. The game was 2GB+ before I did that. But I should probably find a good zipping solution, doing the standard zip on windows (right click -> zip file etc.) barely had an impact! I've seen a game that's 6GB large (also UE4), but its zip file was only 600 - 700MB!
From what I understand, the smaller something is before you zip it the less the file size will reduce by.
For example, our project was 6GB. But only a small part of our project was essential, so Unreal could cut out a lot more to create the zip. In your case, your project might only be 1GB, but more of it is essential for rebuilding your project.
Not sure if that made sense... Anyways here's a link on how zipping works.
That doesn't quite sense to me, unless I really don't understand the concepts here. Unreal didn't cut anything from your game though...? Meaning, I downloaded your 700MB or so zip, but when i unzipped it, it ballooned to 6GB on my hard drive. So... it was there already compressed in the zip file, no? Or do you mean somehow Unreal created the extra 5.3GB there on the spot?!
Love the 2D 3D style and the warp mechanic . Well done fantastic game.
The space to skip intro did not seem to work for me.
The previews look incredible. Is there a chance you could make a build for OS X or WebGL?
I can probably get a Mac build up here for ya I think I'm the only one on the team using one. I'm trying desperately to fix a swarm of bugs with the audio that is losing a bunch of sound upon packaging (if anyone has done lots of troubleshooting with fmod x UE bugs that sees this please DM me!). Windows version suffering from same problems right now :'(
Great artwork and the music fit perfectly with the game. The warp mechanic was cool and really nicely done, I would have wished to see where my mouse was when choosing the warp area though (Or maybe it was just some problems that I had, since it was not showing me where my mouse was) I could choose but had to do it quite blindly :D
5/5 on every aspect!
Glad you fixed it. Nice game and cool idea for the theme. Especially liked the art, music and the warp mechanic was cool. I think as the levels are so long it would be good to add some checkpoints as I sometimes found it tedious to find my way all the way back when I died.
I got an error when trying to run it. I think you need to include the whole package folder rather than just the executable.
Hello! I fixed the file. You should be able to download it now without any problem!
Thanks so much for playing! Our team is so happy to have our first player!
