Awesome game. Love the sfx, attacking possessing fx. Very nice game. Well done.
Incredible, the best I've played so far. I liked that you can't really fail. There were a few places that I got stuck because I killed the little grub in a place where I couldn't get to his body or the "bird" but I only had to restart the level not the whole game so I was able to make it all the way to the end. The boss fight was challenging and fun but again I appreciated that even though it got really tough at times, I couldn't lose.
Loved the bit of humour about bugs and rushing, that's really knowing your audience.
My only real criticisms were it was a little too long for a game jam, if there had been 1 more level I would have quit before I got to the boss fight but I was having the most fun of any of the games I've tried so far, I could totally see this developing into a full game. And the font choice made it hard to tell what character to press to restart the level, I thought it was an A but obviously that's a movement key so I just pressed all the buttons on my keyboard til something happened!
Good job ! I think this one of the better submissions which was similar in this style where you swap out different abilities when you die or force exit out of the body. However in yours you added some sort of requirement you have to do in order to proceed. I think turn that into a puzzle and you got yourself something good here.
I did encounter a bug where i could kill the mage at the start and nothing happened. Cause the mage was not hostile enough and i could perma stunlock it.
Thanks for playing , Haha , maybe i should add a secret ending then for that scenario .
Very impressive. I love your game and the mechanics.
Congratulations !
Wow, I really liked it, it was like a drug :D! I really enjoyed it! Congrats!
P.S. One little suggestion, When you are controlling the cost you can't jump, my suggestion is to make the most jump. Many times I had to restart because I missed/misclicked the body and I jumped down without a body to kill the other mobs, and I was tucked there :(. In any case very enjoyable!
Thanks! yeah i noticed that it can be a problem getting stuck, however making the Ghost jump will create other problems in the mechanics , i have uploaded an update where there are more dead bodies laying around so you always have something to possess and don't get stuck, thanks for pointing that out !
Thank you for your reply! yeah, i agree that cand create problems, I think that your fix by adding more corps could be good as well. Thank you!
Hi, I noticed your submission is missing source folders. Your source is everything someone needs to download your game, open it in the game engine, and hit Play to play the game. In your case, your source is missing the Packages and ProjectSettings folders. Here is an example of what your source should look like: https://github.com/icepol/DeathIsOnlyTheBeginning
Thanks for explaining , i have added the packages, project & user settings folders
Yup, it looks good now :)
Congrats on submitting!
I couldnt make it past the first time you exit the body maybe i was missing something not sure.
Liked the idea of body hopping.
Thanks for trying it out , i guess i should make it more clear that you have to possess the fire worm to pass through the small gap
Congrats on completing the jam! I thought it was a great take on the mechanic and you did a great job of forcing the player to "body hop" constantly without making it onerous.
