How was your jamming experience? Were you able to produce more or less than you expected?
Really good, this was my first game jam and the first time I've built a game. Pretty basic game but I've learnt a LOT this week. Hectic with a full time job and a family to find spare time.
How did you apply the theme to your entry?
You're trying to find parking spaces in a car park. Ended up the same as James's idea, great minds think alike I guess.

Good job working in 3d, it seems so hard to do. I only make 2d games haha. Awesome entry for your first time! keep it up~ Check out 'Europa' if you have free time.
Great minds! That was fun to play, and although it was the same core idea it's fun to see how completely differently we both implemented it :) The camera movement was inverted so it was a little hard to look around for the spots but not impossible. But especially for a first jam, this was great!
Thanks heaps for the feedback James.
Yeah I have to admit I used the Cinemachine camera that you used in the 3rd Person Patformer course on Udemy, and I don’t think it suits driving, but that was all I had time for. I should have inverted the x axis and made the view wider, but to be honest my plan was to either write my own camera controller or remove mouse input - time got the better of me.
When I play test it, I don’t even touch the mouse :)
First game jam and first time to build a game? This is impressive! I like the concept. The car handled similarly to a real car which was cool. The camera was a little weird sometimes and I didn't like how close it would get to the car as it made it harder to see what to do. (I had to adjust my camera quite often) I also had fun doing donuts out in the field and falling off the edge of the world. haha. Good job making a game!
Thanks heaps for the comment Brad!
Getting the car to feel right actually took ages. At first it would flip every time it turned a corner. I may have even spent about half my time just on figuring out wheel colliders.
I wrote a basic camera controller initially, but then switched to Cinemachine half way through to save time. I agree that it’s not ideal, especially for the car bit. To be honest when I play I don’t touch the mouse as it does get pretty close. I should have at least changed how close the top and bottom positions are, but time got the better of me again.
I also tried to put camera shake when you crash, and tried to make the camera snap behind you when you get into a car, but neither worked and I guess it’s because I used Cinemachine, so extra reasons I was hoping to write my own controller if I had time.
I’ve done a couple of udemy courses before, but haven’t really built anything other than following those. Doing this was a great learning experience.
