Hi everyone.

I've been working on this version of snake for gameboy which, when finished, I'm going to enter in this jam.

here's a link to it:

here's a link to its github page, its written in assembly using RGBDS :

At the moment its just a more or less basic version of snake, but i've got some ideas for extra game mechanics.

I've just gotten gbt player working to play music,  my question is can anybody recommend a good way to generate mod files for use with it. Which tracker is easiest to use and/or has the best tutorials. Or is there some more modern software that can be used.

On the off chance that somebody likes the look of my game and can compose music, i'd be glad to have a collaborator on music and sound effects.

bassoon tracker is quite easy.

thanks i'll take a look :)

The best thing i've managed to find so far is this https://openmpt.org/

Can i use a midi keyboard with it ?

I'm not sure - i think so

I'm getting into MilkyTracker and I don't know if I like it but I'm making it work! It has the option for MIDI input as well but seems to be temperamental if you're using too much memory on other programs at the same time. (or maybe I'm having some other problem)

If nothing works out for you, hit me up and I might be able to contribute a small  track or two in between the ones I'm doing for myself!

Thanks man i appreciate that. All of the "Trackers" i've looked at are either ports of old DOS programs of they're made to look and control like them - i'm not sure which. That is except for openMPT - which has a more modern windows UI. I'm sure the old school ones are easy to use once you learn all the key bindings, ect. but I don't really care to do that haha.

Your soundcloud is amazing. i'm starting now. Any chance to share some mod files  ? Thanks

Thanks for the compliment redcafe75! I've always used LSDJ to make my music, which doesn't generate mod files. Learning MilkyTracker to make mods for a music cartridge has been a new (and very busy) experience. In the final days of the compo I might possibly have time to make music for somebody else, but I'm so busy right now that I truly can't promise it!
