How does your game match the theme?
I interpreted Space in the more typical sense: outer space. Marty is an alien from outer space who is attempting to take over an entire galaxy one planet at a time.
The aesthetic heavily utilizes many elements related to this interpretation of space: green alien creatures, twinkling stars, UFOs, and moon rocks to name a few.

Marty is easily one of the best I’ve played from this Jam. Both gameplay styles have very solid implementation, with no wonkiness. The graphics could use more refining, but it’s not like that matters in a quality game. The HUD (especially in the vertical shooter section) could use some kind of border, to remind us where we can an cannot go to avoid enemies. Sure, there could be more enemy variety but maybe in a later version. The soundtrack is Awesome. Keep up the great work.
Really appreciate the glowing review and feedback! It was actually on my list to differentiate the HUDs somehow but it fell to the wayside on the last day 😅 I can definitely agree on some graphics needing touched up; the title screen logo looks kinda crusty the longer I stare at it and the tiles in platforming sections could maybe use some more diversity than moon rock and darker moon rock.
I'd had a vision for different enemy designs, actually! The long-legged enemy you see right now was originally the only one that was supposed to look like that. The short and floating enemies had different designs in my mind, but time crunch resulted in me just shortening the tall guy 😂 I definitely want to come back and make a full version of this game at some point. I got the platforming feeling exactly how I wanted it to and I'd love to explore more levels with it.
I had a blast playing through this game! There were a few moments where my brain was a bit puzzled (I missed I could go down in one of the puzzles) but I had a ton of fun! And the music! What a bop! The song is stuck in my head!
Highly adored this game
Hey, thanks for playing! Really glad to hear you liked it. Music was actually the thing I was least certain about in this whole endeavor, so the fact you enjoyed it so much brings me joy (and a bit of relief).
I'll be sure to check out your entry sometime soon. It looks neat!
