Sadly I was very bad at first, haha.. It took me a few minutes to understand how to go upper on walls, but once I got it I enjoyed a lot playing through levels. Good job! :-)

I love playing as acrobatic characters like this, and I also love this precise but fair kind of challenge!
I certainly have no complaints about the gameplay and design, this is a lot of fun, but I'm sorry to say, this falls a little too far off the Game Boy's specs... You did stick to the 4 colours and certainly seemed to stick to the 8 x 8 pixel grid, but you downscaled an asset and it got rendered at a higher resolution than the rest of the game, you should have probably made a new asset for that diagonally-moving smaller spiky block in the second-to-last trial, nevermind the liberal use of extra BG layers and particle effects, or the inaccurate sound effects...

Don't let my strict adherence to the GB specs disillusion you however, you've got a pretty fun game right here that I gladly played all the way through!

Thank you so much for playing our little game. That higher resolution block went into the build by mistake, we did draw a smaller one, but forgot to swap the sprite, haha! The rest of the points you made, like the particles, are definitely worth noting, we just weren't aiming for. Maybe in the next jam I'll try to follow more hardware rules/limitations. I'm not primarily an artist, but I love animating pixel art, so this jam is a breath of fresh air for me =)

Nice game! It's very good to get the hold of it. The only complaint I have is the SFX when he character hit the ground. It's kinda high for ears. Well done!

Thank you for the feedback!

Sadly, just a black screen for me under linux... :(

Developer

Sorry about that =/
Can you try again? I updated the game with a fix that might help. What linux is yours?

Tried again, but still the same... I'm using Linux Mint.

Here's some debug output from my console, but that does not look too helpful...
