Did you use any third-party assets or skeleton code?
The only assets that were not made during this jam are the main game's music and one sound effect which were both previously made by me. The rest has all been made during the jam.

hmm the 3rd tutorial boss did not spawn for me and I got stuck on the tutorial, jumped into the water and my character got stuck under.. I liked how the tutorial keep repeating the same line until I actually tried clicking the button though.

did it not? if you keep getting stuck, you can press alt to skip the whole tutorial or just press L to force the tutorial to progress

Glad you liked that lil detail tho!

Some great stuff on show here and I enjoyed my time with this, I think the screen shake was a bit excessive and for some reason the game kept lagging a ton sometimes and it took like a solid minute for it to settle back to a good framerate, not sure what was up there but it was always happening near the lower water? It might be to do with the large amount of enemies that pool up down there and the particles it releases when you kill them.

I will say I found it a bit difficult to cover the ground with ink sometimes, which made it a bit frustrating to recover my ink when I was having to search around the map for individual pink pixels. I also had issues with the controls initially and ended up redoing the tutorial three times because I would instinctively try to press r to reload my weapon, which would restart the whole game lol, I think that's mostly on me though. There were also some issues with collisions on the terrain which would cause me to get stuck.

I enjoyed the enemy variety and different weapons I could try out, I had a lot of fun with the mower ability especially. A score screen would be great to compare to other players! Some of  the effects used look really damn cool - the game over screen especially stands out to me, it just looks awesome.

Overall, I thought this was a very charming experience and I had great fun trying out the different weapons and seeing how far I could get. Great work Genya!! <3

tysm for the massive comment/feedback!!

The water lagging problem was something I thought I fixed but it seems i didnt do enough testing :,) will do my best to at least minimize that issue-

And I'll adjust the inking mechanic so player particles can covers a lil more ground

But again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for playing my game <3 it means so much!!

Developer

oh btw- you can press the alt key to skip the tutorial! prolly shouldve made it more clear-

The art and sound are nice. The concept is interesting and I think it could be expanded in the future. There could be some more effects to add some juice but it's fun to play. Cool game!

thank you!! Glad you liked it :D

Cool idea to turn Splatoon 2D. The story covers the theme, and the guns feel juicy (though maybe a little too much screen shake). The music is also a highlight, really puts the jam in Juice Jam :)

Unusually cool game over screen too!

With some small tweaks to the difficulty curve and player controls (which obviously is hard to perfect on a solo game jam project), you could have a fun little game here.

Well done! Make more games!

If i ever update the game or expand on it in the future, I'll definitely keep your feedback in mind!!
