i plan on working on this game solo, although i am the FARTHEST thing from a composer, so i was considering using music from elsewhere. just wanted to make sure that this is even allowed, because if not then i could just find a composer elsewhere.

thanks for taking the time to read, and have a blessed day

I'll just quote from the rules:

"You may use pre-made, publicly available, and purchased assets, as well as GDevelop's built-in asset library, or other assets you have the legal rights to use. Just remember to credit properly. "

"You can use pre-existing code, extensions, functions. But do not write code specifically for this jam, ahead of time."

If it's publicly available and not copyrighted you should be fine.

so how would i be if i used songs from per se, the sonic the hedgehog soundtrack. the majority of the songs from the games are publicly available on youtube, and sega has been known to be much less harmless when it comes to use of their properties, compared to nintendo.

You don't have the legal right to use the work of other people without their permission, I suggest you look for other assets to use instead.

itch.io and opengameart.org both have a large collections to look through.

thanks for the answer, i'll begin looking.

I’ve seen that https://freesound.org/ is the best place for all audio things.
