Cool concept with quite a bit of intresting gameplay. It has a decent amount of polish and was fun to play. Though the game didn't register that i won, but thats understandible as this is a game jam.
Before the evaluation, let me greet you by the title, my life as Guitar Hero fan supports this reference!
The music is well placed, a mix of rough and joyful; I liked it. The concept reminds me some NES games, like Konami's Antarctic Adventure, but it's pretty original the way you can force the others to gain speed as you throw them into the stuff on the field. In the same way, the other cars can do the same with you and this can be a little frustrating, once some things on the field seems to teleport you to other position away and you end up losing control of the situation. But it's really fun to play, I started it again a couple of times till get the last position, and I hope you go on with the project!
I see you've got good abilities on Godot and that makes me confident the engine is getting the due attention and will gain the support it deserves. Thanks for it and good luck!
Thanks for your comment, we're glad you enjoyed our game. We'll keep working on it, sure. There are plans on adding some tracks and power-ups' feedback.
Really cute graphics and neat concept :) I just wished there was a victory screen ahah
Thank! Yeah, we too. We added that to the post-jam version. :´D
Pretty solid entry. I like the idea of a racing game where the goal is to lose and the restrictions (no breaks/speedups) makes it even more interesting. I understand powerups are use at random but I was expecting to have to collect them. I don't think I did but got a speed boost so fast that it just boosted me to the finish line. I don't recall stepping on a speed boost tile and after that it was all over because I did could avoid anything else. lol Also, not sure if I had to wait until all the racers finished to continue which made getting 2nd be even more awful having to wait a very long time. Still, it was fun
Thanks for your comment. In the post-jam version of the game, we'll add visual feedback when a power-up is picked and automatically used. That version will also include a win screen with a couple of buttons.
Wow you guys made this in 48 hour. Game's art style is awesome. Also mechanics are simple and funny.
Thanks, we're glad you liked it.
Fun little game!
I like how at first I was so happy being first place and two seconds later I realized this is exactly how you shouldn't play..
you can defiantly keep working on it and add some interesting tracks!
Thanks! It is good to know you liked the game. We're going to add more tracks in the post-jam version for sure.
That's a great concept :) !!
I love the music and pixel art and the actual game is very clever and for some reason quite funny... it's so different from any other racing game where all you want is speed, here after a few tries I learned to avoid speed at all cost and was glad when my opponents shot past in front of me ;D ! There's just one quirk : is there no restart button or am I missing something ?
Anyway all in all this was a solid and fun entry, cheers !
Thanks for your comment. We're glad you liked the concept, the music, and the pixel art. We didn't have time to put the win screen in this version of the game, but in the post-jam version will be there. We'll put a link to that version later today.
The concept is really good, both stripping the mechanic and flipping the normal rules. However, I got strangely teleported to another part of the track sometimes, thwarting my plan of going as slow as possible by hitting the right tiles and pushing my enemies to the boost tiles. And the flipping of the controls could have some telegraphing before, to prepare you for the shift. In all, a great concept, but if more was left to the player to control, the player would be able to use the world and mechanics to fell in control in this game.
Thanks for your comment. We didn't have time to put the full feedback for the power-ups. And it is good to know you liked the concept of the game. We're going to keep working on it, and in newer versions player will know when a power-up is activated and what it does.
I wish I could play it!
We have this build here

This has a great look to it! It wasn't clear what mechanic was removed, I had to look on your page to find out. It plays well.
