Really fun game that has a thing Mark Brown has been talking about lately: switching game states. I really enjoyed going from having a weapon to running away to find another. Great job!
Also, your gif for this is so great that I had to drop what I was doing to find out what your game was.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Enjoyed that. Fun and simple. Good stuff.
Great job! Most time I've spent playing a game for this jam thus far. Very fun, tricky and nostalgic.
Did you try stacking the enemies? I may have found a bug related to it.
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Diferent weapons do different damage, so it feels like there are possibly 2 enemies, but theres only one.
First of all it's amazing how much content you've got in this game. But I've got to say I loved exploring the world but on my first playthrough felt that the main mechanic was stopping me from it by making me constantly go back for weapons and deal with one enemy at the time. I've had much more fun on my second playthrough when I got to the second stage. I ran and dashed through the first one (that was kind of boring), but in the second stage I liked how you've managed to strike the balance of running through the level and having to still fight enemies on occasion because there was to many of them to just run through.
My main problem with the game is that I didn't really understand where are the hitbox borders so I'd sometimes get hit and sometimes not which made it harder to decide which strategy to employ at what time.
But I think that can and will be easily fixed post-jam if you decide to further develop this game (which you should).
Great job!
Thanks glad you liked it. Surprisingly this is my first 2D game so I'm a bit of a rookie, even though in the editor the colliders were perfectly aligned. Also never actually made AI so it was a really fast attempt. Defiently going to expand it, you can check out my new devblog i posted here: https://vzinc.itch.io/danture/devlog/94089/whats-next
Very original idea and I loved how you incorporated it with an RPG style game! This game has great potential but some of your hitboxes (at least for me) seemed off Maybe adding some camera shake, and some sound effects, would have been the cherry on the cake! Great job with this game!
Thanks glad you liked it! Really I already have camera shake and sound effects?
Yeah! I saw but for the camera shake make much more visible and sound effects just more. I didn't mean to say you didn't have, I meant that it would be better to add MORE. But that's my opinion... Great job with the game!
Ah ok thank you!
I think this game have a good concept and fits very well for the theme. I have a few problems with collision but for a 48h game it's normal have this kind of thing. Good job!
Loved the core idea of procuring your weapons while fighting, and how they get destroyed after one hit. I think it needs more feedback when you get hit. More weapon variety and core exploration, and you may have a really great game on your hands. Nice job!

Very cool idea and a cute execution. I like the idea of taking only one weapon on the battlefield full of different kinds of weapons, making you think what weapon to choose based on the situation. The game was fun, I enjoyed it and the sounds the enemies made were funny. The game itself lacks a bit of feedback about the damage given from the enemies. I found it hard to understand when the enemy hits me and when I take damage. But besides that, the game is fun to play and it has a potential . Well done!
This is wonderful, great use of the theme and a really fun, challenging game.
i have invested 1 full hour in this game... Awesome keep up the good work..
Kindly, try mine and rate it https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/431948
wow thanks so much, will check yours out
Besides what the other commenters have said, I had problems with getting stuck on geometry in the 2nd level, particularly after I started running rather than fighting. I also found the really large enemies in the screenshot confusing to fight, since I kept losing health despite not touching them nor getting hit by the splash. Do the big swords in dead ends make any difference?
yea the colliders were just something i didnt have time to fix, those swords reduce dash time
Pretty cool game, with interesting mechanics !
Downside, the hitboxes where very strange, you should better communicate where the ennemies can ant can't touch the player and how long is the duration of the attack.
Great job! It's a nice little game with really good style and mechanic. The idea is great and having to look up for weapons is clever hahaha.Nice work!
The only thing is that I noted that when you move on diagonals your movement speed is reduced, is that the expected result? But besides from that, Great work!
Yea its a common thing i forgot to fix with these type of controllers. Thanks for playing!
Great little game ; this only-one use of the weapon mechanic seems to be popular among the games.
Slightly unclear why certain enemies die in a hit and others in more though.
Great job! Especially if it is your first jam!
I liked the game idea but I noticed a few problems with the gameplay like enemies continue attacking and damaging after they die for a few seconds, when you receive damage is not very clear. I liked the visual style. It reminded me of minit. The background music is too repetitive but the sound effects are cute and nice. I think with some added polish this game has some potential. I enjoyed the game and played a few times (didn't finish). Thank you for making this game!
I love the visual style and minimalistic animations for both the character and the enemies. Sound effects as well
However......I felt that it was a little hard to tell whether an enemy actually died after I hit it. Also it would be good if there was maybe some sort of effect for when the player takes damage
Other than that, this is really good for something made in under two days. Good job
Interesting implementation of melee combat. Well done.
A nice interpretation of the jam theme, I like it! The aesthetics are very captivating too. Nice job!
Cool game, Love the sound effect when you die xD
Nice game! The combat is really fluid, great job!
