I actually think the awkward controls are what makes it shine. Reminds me of games like i.e. Flappy Bird, which seem really cheap and frustrating at first but you just can't stop trying.
Doesn't hurt that the concept is also quite unique.

This game is really creative. When I saw only one minute, I thought each level would be that long. Not the Whole game. I really enjoyed this game the levels were well designed and the gameplay was fun. I especially liked going back to each level to beat my previous score too make it further in the game.
I feel like the ball felt really floaty. Also it was hard to hit the ball the right direction especially when moving the mouse very quickly. also a quick restart button would have been nice.
Overall Great job, I loved it!
If you have the time could you try out our entry: https://crypticsilver.itch.io/happy-accident
I love the physics based gameplay! A little bit confusing on how it's gonna hit because of the club sprite, maybe change that a bit. But overall as someone who plays golf this is really enjoyable! Also really good for a first jam!
P.S. please rate this game i did the art for https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463810
Nice idea and very easy to understand! I really like that I don't have to replay all the levels once the one minute is over but just the ones i did poorly. One problem I had was that i found it quite difficult to control the ball. When I tried to hit the ball softly, it would sometimes fly with high speed. But great game and it suits the theme really well! We actually also made a game where you only have one minute, guess we aren't the only one then haha :))
At first I was going to complain that it's totally unreasonable to expect players to beat all these levels in under 60 seconds, but the way this game handles records and best times is such a novel take on timers that it suddenly became a game in and of itself to decide which level I wanted to perfect to give myself an edge on the one I'm currently on. Well done.
My only gripe is that the ball is a little *too* floaty and the handle of the club makes figuring out the hitbox a bit difficult. Otherwise, you've got a good foundation here.
Really fun and addicting to optimize times! The wonky physics are a highlight.
