I had a lot of fun playing this, great use of the mechanic. My only gripe was the jumping mechanic. I got stuck in the level with the 3(4?) pillars in the middle, I think I've figured out the solution, but whenever I jump it gets caught on things and I don’t go as high as I expect to and then get shot, maybe the player chars collider friction needs to be set to 0? Still good execution and a fun time, if a bit tense.
A level window, so you could continue on from where you left off would be neat so you could try certain levels again.
If you have time, would love to hear what you think of my game; https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461074
This is a lot of fun and very addictive too! Real satisfying when you line up the perfect shot or avoid a bunch of incoming projectiles! Great job!
Oh god this game made me so anxious. It's fun, it's great fun, but I tense up every time I fire a shot because I don't know if it'll hit or not. The mouse sensitivity is Way too high and the enemies shooting means I don't have time to aim my shots. Nice job with this, I'll give it a 4 and 5 for design and adherence.
Thanks for checking it out! I apologize for the Mouse Sensitivity; I kind of just set it to my preference and didn't give it a second thought-- If I end up updating the game, I will certainly add sensitivity adjustment!
Great idea. I felt like the controls were holding me back tho.
There is no escape button of any kind. No way to go back to the main menu (at least not that I could find).
Well Done
I suppose that was an oversight on my part ;( If i update the game ill be sure to add a pause menu and allow you to adjust the sensitivity of the camera movement.
Very cool. Very fun. I like the enemy designs a lot. The game has great performance, and a nice level of polish. Will play again to finish up all the levels. I only got through the tutorial levels so far.
(Design 4/5): Great gameplay with satisfying effects and the sound effects + music did many favours for the game. I also really like how you could tell when the enemies were about to shoot by listening, great way to signal their fire. The game is at its best when it was about finding ways to hit multiple enemies from. I therefore didn't like the think fast levels as much, and would have prefered if you had doubled down on that find the correct direction to take the enemies down from. The bullet speed were also way too quick and didn't feel fair at some points. Otherwise the game looks really great and the level enviroment was great to traverse.
(Adherence to the Theme 2/5): You get more than one shot. IDK, that doens't seem to be following the theme. You do have one shot in the beginning so that's at least a point above 1/5.
(Originality 4/5) Game is obviously inspired by Super Hot, but besides that the main mechanic is very interesting and I haven't really seen it been done much in other games.
This was a pleasure to play. Production value is really good and the main gimmick were great.
To be fair, You also only have 1 HP ;) but I get what you're saying, its simply a bit difficult to come up with so many ways to put a bunch of enemies in a single line and still provide as much dynamic gameplay. Also, taking out 4 enemies with only one bullet is still only one bullet, despite earning a few bullets back.
