Game looks great! Sprites are really polished and cute! My only gripe at all was the speed of the players. I wanted them to move around just a bit faster. Other than that I still had a lot of fun! Some good puzzles in there! We had similar ideas on the platformer with multiple abilities! Kudos!

Developer

Yes. The move & jump speed looks floating effect instead of real in the 2D world. When I submit the game before the deadline, I realized this mistakes. Anyway, I am going to update the finish later to make it complete. Thanks for your treasure comments! Your game also super nice~

Nice job with all your hard work for the jam! Here's my in-depth review:

Design [2/5]: I'll start with the positives: the concept of controlling one character at a time to get a princess through an exit door makes for a very nice puzzle game ripe with opportunity. I think you have a nice cast of characters that are all creative and unique.
Having said all of that, I thought the execution was weak and the level design is incredibly frustrating. It is possible to get completely stuck on the very first level if the Knight falls into that first pit (happened to me). At first, I realized I could no longer collect the coin at the bottom left of the screen, but that frustration turned into a huge eye-roll when I realized I also could no longer finish the level. To make matters worse, there's no obvious way to restart the level, so I just had to refresh the browser page and start the game over. In general, I think the level design is incredibly frustrating, and the fact that there's no way to restart the level after making a mistake means that the best players will be punished the hardest for making a mistake (seems backwards to me). If I make it all the way to the last level and make a mistake, I'll have to restart the entire game just to see the ending, which is a poor design choice. It's too easy to become stuck in the middle of a level, and I think that should have been brought into consideration (especially in the earlier levels).
That was my experience when I first played the game, but it wasn't until I came to this comments page and read through some of the other comments that I realized you actually can restart the level. However, you have to open the options menu and click through a couple of buttons to do it. Aside from that being a clunky way to handle restarting (a simple press of the 'r' button on the keyboard would have done just fine), the player is never told about that in the game. There is a tutorial screen, but it mentions nothing about how to restart a level. Since dying or becoming stuck is such a strong possibility, it's really important that players know how to restart the level, so that was a huge problem for me.
I also faced some other minor annoyances while playing. I was frustrated that your character always faces to the right whenever you stop moving, even if you were moving left. This can become a problem for any of the characters with an attack, since attacking left means you have to be moving and attacking at the same time.
Again, I want to say that this game is a nice concept in theory, but I was so frustrated by the level design and the lack of an obvious way to restart the level that I couldn't finish playing it.

Adherence to the Theme [5/5]: You have multiple characters, but you only control one at once. Nice job!

Originality [3/5]: As nice as this game is conceptually, I've seen it before in a game called Thomas Was Alone. I don't want to dock you too much, considering that's a relatively unknown indie game, but the idea of a puzzle platformer with multiple characters that you control one at a time is not completely original.

Overall, I can tell you've put some nice effort into this project. The game looks nice, it's an interesting concept, and it's (mostly) bug-free. Keep working at games and I'm sure you will improve as a developer in time!

Developer

OMG. Thanks for your comment which inspire me lots. Honestly, I am aware of many uncomfortable places in my game such as restart button and several level designs. Also, The character always turn right will influence player's gameplay experience. I will try to update later. Some tutorials and hints are not so clear during my game when I export my game after deadline.

Very appreciate for your sincere comments.

It's really nice. The sprite art looks really nice and the core concept is pretty good. The physics are a little too floaty and I wish there was an easier way to restart the level.

Developer

Yeh. I will adjust the jump speed variable and makes it looks real later. Thanks for your likes and comments~!

Submitted(+1)

Your game looks really polished graphically! I wish that the game jam had lasted a bit more to see how each of the character's unique abilities are useful when used together, let me know if you release another version later!

Cheers form the land of the Juan and only Jelly Knight!

Cool! Nice idea and really polished overall, with all the UI and ideas. Reminds me a lot of The Lost Vikings. I do feel like the gameplay needs some tuning though, it felt like there was some collision issue that prevented my character from jumping sometimes.

Keep up the great work!

Developer

I will play "The Lost Vikings" tonight. Thanks for your likes and comments. your game looks so popular with so many ratings!!!!

Nice! Really feels well done and the music made me feel like a hero!

Developer

Thanks (•̀ᴗ•́) و ̑̑

The idea is really nice and the execution is great. It took me some time to realize which character is the princess. The jump is a little bit float but it is still good. The variety of characters is really nice and the level are really enjoyable. Great work.

Developer

Yea. I made one mistake one the Prince and Princess. And as you said, the jump force is little bit small and the jump action is little bit slower. I will change the variable in the next version. Thanks for your likes and comment~(•̀ᴗ•́) و ̑̑

Hey, thanks for checking out Einnsámr, I gave you a rating here! Fun idea, epic music!

Submitted(+1)

Kinda short, but sure it's interesting!
Check our game: https://cerosware.itch.io/one-stick-shooter

Developer

Sure. I did not have limited time to design more

Submitted(+1)

Nice gameplay and visuals, wouldn't be bad if expanded and made a full game.

Developer

Yeap. I will continue to make in this month~

It's a pretty fun idea and the game looks good, but I'm missing some player feedback.
For one it's a shame there's no sound effects for deaths and fire and such, and some things are a bit surprising. In the last level for example I was certain I had to do something with those two mushrooms, and the little rock on the ledge that turned out to be a bomb was a nasty surprise.

The game also controls a little too sluggish imo. Making all the characters just a little faster would be better I believe. All in all fun concept, but it needs a little more meat on its bones (and a spelling check. A few hints such as "princess" vs "prince" are confusing and the game page says skills are used with E while the game itself says right mouse button).

Developer(+1)

......Oh! I described wrong Control Text! Thanks for information!

Honestly, There are many points have to update and level 3 is not 100% complete but close to the deadline.  I plan to make the mana bar to each character and make their skill only use several times.

Also, I am agree with your point about the jump/move Speed of the character slower than normal. In the beginning, I would like to add the crown to the player because my current "Player" is not looks like one Prince. I made mistakes in many Text editing.

Your comments are really help me lots~

Pretty cool. Would be nice to be able to swap characters using 1, 2, 3, etc. to keep the  momentum of the game rather than having to click on their icon only because it feels like it slows the game down Solid entry

Developer

Yea. I also feel the jump/move speed is slower than I think. I plan to use the hotkey 1,2,3,4 to shortcut each character in the nextstep. Thanks for your comments and advice. (•̀ᴗ•́) و ̑̑

The web version is very laggy but still playable. Great gameplay and really interesting idea, keep it up!

Developer

I will adjust the game resolution and match with the website window size in the next step. Thanks ~

Submitted

Actually I think it was a browser problem, chrome runs it smoothly. My fault.

Submitted

Nice entry! It looks and sound very well. As already mentioned a direct reset of a level, without opening the menu would be great. Also the witch at the end is actually cool but makes also the other 3 characters useless. But however, well done!

Developer(+1)

Yes. I did not have enough time to design level 3 very creature and I design the four characters first. I will design level 3 later to make each character skill looks unique and different with each other. (•̀ᴗ•́) و ̑̑

Submitted(+1)

Yeah! Very cool!

If you may like you could play and rate our game too, we would appreciate it :)

Developer(+1)

Sure. I am going to.

Befeore even starting i was HIPED cause of the music and i love the pixel art. My onlie conplain is the pacing of the game it's kinda slow to move BUT BREAT FOR 48 Hours!

Developer

Yea. I plan to add more features on my game later~

Submitted(+1)

This is visually pleasing and has epic music to keep you going! Seems very polished and I love the small detail of being able to zoom in and out. Nice job!

Developer

Yeah. I did not add the SFX and many other elements in this game because of the limited time. I am going to update later. Thanks for your likes~(•̀ᴗ•́) و ̑̑

Submitted(+1)

Great Idea! I played a game with a a similar concept called "Quantum Entanglement", which was also made for this game jam. You should check it out!

Developer

Wow. I will play that game. I guess the concept also come from LD43. But This game also have many potentials in the future. Thanks!

(+1)

Very cool idea. I'll second the "please don't let me get stuck so easily on level 1" comment, but add that the only reason it bothered me so much is that I wanted to explore the idea more.  :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah. I will make it complete in the next following day. (•̀ᴗ•́) و ̑̑

Submitted

Nice work. however, I've stucked at the first level with a knight. -_-

Developer(+1)

You can use the warrior as the ladder and let our princess to jump to the target door. Sorry for some unclear hint. I did not complete the clear tutorial yet~

Submitted

I ment this moment. It's not good for the first level, be careful in the future.

Developer(+1)

Yeah. When I design this point, My thinking is that I want the player be aware of the each character differences between their jump force and height. The purpose of setting one coin on the lower right corner is the same reason.

While, when I published, I feel first level should not let player to restart more than twice. and this point would not be the best design.

I share this point with my classmate, Almost of them says you are right. That's not one good design in the first level. I will update this point. Very Appreciate for your advice!

Submitted(+1)

Your thought are right, just remember that in puzzle game it's importatn to teach player mechanics level by level, and make 'saw' difficulty. And the first level should teach the basics. Keep doing your game!

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Hey man

Nice game. Are there really only 3 levels? I would like to play more. What are the coins for and why is there no pickup sound?

The concept reminds me a little at the LD43 winner total Party kill.

If you want you can check out our game too. We made everything from scratch. No external assets used.

Developer(+1)

Sure. I am going to play your game. Because of 48 hours time, I did not have enough time to make more levels. In the beginning, I plan to make at least 5 levels and create one map selections screen to unlock each level from the stars number.

The idea comes from that game and I want to add more features. While I did not have enough time to complete that game as well as him. But I will make different from that game.

(BTW, I used other assets pack this time.)

I guess you are putting a lot of time into your Youtube channel, which by the way looks really nice. I have watched a few videos and learned something new from them. I hope your subscriber count will go up soon, but keep up the great work.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Since my english is not well, each time I create one youtube video, bunch of time used on Dubbing and Premiere. But now I have used to editing video and improve my pronunciation a little bit.(I have saved many tutorials such as inventory and map selection videos but without dumbbing, I am going to make today)

But I really plan to update this game and make it complete.

Very appreciate!

Btw, I would like to work with you some day for a game jam, because your art style is really awesome and very similar to Blackthornprod which I like a lot :D

Developer

Yeah I am looking forward to working with others one day.

(•̀ᴗ•́) و ̑̑ I love BTP videos and learn lots although his current videos is full of devLog(No offend). This jam asset pack is used others but I really like to use AI and PS to make images. But I really like programming and design. I hopes my youtube video arts are made by myself but it will cost me so much time. So most of time I choose to use others and post the link below.

(•̀ᴗ•́) و ̑̑ I work as artist in this two game jams but I am not good at making art in short time just like in two days.
