Hey guys! Another rate circle but I'm also really interested in knowing HOW you chose your ideas, what were the alternatives? what was the rationale being it?

My game is called ONE EYE where the main character blew his own eye while looking down the barrel. So if you have half the eyes you  only have half the screen to see!

The idea first came after a series of others:

  • one weapon (for the whole game)
  • one hand to hold the weapon (forcing the player to drop one on the ground and pick up another to be able to switch weapons)
  • one arm + one leg only (with a hoping one legged soldier holding a sword)
  • one eye (half the eyes = half the screen)

That's a really neat idea!

My game, Decrafted, is essentially the inverse of a crafting game, the usual objective of which is to craft as many items as possible; instead, the objective is to craft the items down so that there is only one left.

The idea sounds interesting!

I can't play Windows builds =(   If you have WebGL or Mac I'll gladly play it!

It doesn't have WebGL at the moment, but I'll try and put a WebGL version together!

Keep me posted if you do ;)

So I managed to build a WebGL version but it won't let me upload it until the jam is over -,- sorry boss

That was super interesting, I enjoyed the concept a ton. It gave me that Little Alchemy-esque feel when I figured out where to go, I liked it!

Why this game? what drove you to this idea?

well first we came up with ONE SHOT same concept but with a bow and then we changed to an axe also the story changed from aliens to slave owners ^^ and yeah that's about it

I made two games this GTMK jam. The first is a social anxiety during networking simulator

https://silevran.itch.io/social-networking

The idea behind this was that we started with a choice-based visual novel with only one decision. We tried doing weird things with narrative structure, but it just didn't have the umph we wanted for uniqueness. So we ended up going in the direction of only have one answer to stick to when answering a bunch of questions, and it turned into a challenging game mechanic!
And the other is a skill game. I just wanted to make a challenging game with one-button controls

The social anxiety one looks really awesome,  I know some people working one a very similar one but regarding anorexia.

Sadly I don't have a Windows computer =/ if you have WebGL or Mac, I'll give them a go!

My inspiration came from Breat of the Wild, and it's durability system. All of it's weapons broke after a while, forcing you to scavenge for new ones. I took that to the extreme, and made every weapon break in one single use.

This is my game - https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461728

This is a puzzle platformer where you get one jump. It starts off pretty simple, but quickly starts to ramp up after my favorite mechanic is added - switched/2 state blocks! With portals, springs, 2 state blocks with levers, moving platforms, and most frightening of all, stairs, there are tons of interesting puzzles (around 25ish iirc :D) Level 7 became unsolvable late in the cycle (which is a shame because it was my favorite puzzle). Apologies about that, but you should be able to glitch through it.
