The game is very challenging, I was able to get to the platform after the first skeleton campfire. I found out that by jumping from the sides of the platforms let's you double jump, which kind of is under control, but at the same time its frustrating, which makes it more out of control. Anyways, great job!
Thanks for reviewing :)
You can jump at any time, including after you walk off the edge of a platform or after bumping the ceiling. but you only get one jump until you touch another solid surface :)
Try walking off the ledges and then using your jump midair :)
Day 3, no winners =(
Maybe this will help (warning, spoilers):
Love the aesthetic, definitely out of control-lethality... after DS I kept wondering why I was dying on the bonfire haha
Win builds seem to be broken, holding a/d makes the character move random amount of pixels at random times and the jump is really low (see gif)
weird. the jumping is not supposed to be like that :/ (see youtube vid on game page for how it should work)
I think the issue is we accidentally depend on the game running at 60 fps. You’re probably running at a higher frame rate (we use vsync. is your display refreshing at a higher rate? like 120 hz?)
Art looks great! Movement is a little finicky but I guess that was the point based on your answer to how your game fits the theme!
Movement should be smooth but it seems like it gets weird if your framerate gets too far from 60fps
beautiful ! great use of assets! please add sounds, it will be so much more fun!
I'll start of with the good bits. The art assets are well utilized, I actually have the same pack of assets, but I hadn't thought to use them the way they were used here. The overall control scheme seems decent with there not being that many issues. Though at the start i had no idea I would hang onto walls and thought the game had glitched. Overall, idk how big the game since I couldn't complete it, but any sort of functional game by the end of 48 hours is an achievement.
Now for the criticisms. The lack of music and sound effects make the game seem a little creepy? I'm not sure if that's the sort of mood the rest of the assets are fit for but I digress. The lack of animations and particles somewhat hinder the games feel as it doesn't exactly feel polished.
The vibe I'm getting is "I want to be the guy", as it's promoted to be a really hard game. So saying that 'the game was hard' is somewhat of a null argument.
I would have loved to seen the random magic system but I won't complain if it would have out of place.
Thanks!
Mainly we planned to add the random magic (which would have made it a bit easier) but ran out of time. Same for music and animation. We will learn to start polishing in the last 4 hours next time regardless of what is ready haha >_<
I like the art, the game is intresting but too hard.
Well Done !
This truly is the Dark Souls of the GMTK Jam 2020.
True xD
The idea is interesting, but it's hard to know what to do because there are no control instructions in the game. I wasn't able to shoot or use abilities either, so I couldn't make it past the first level.
The shooting is broken, we didn’t finish it in time :(
Some tips on jumping: you have one jump that is reset whenever you touch a safe surface.
Try walking off the ledge then jumping as you fall to get more distance.
Or jump after you hit a ceiling.
I'm sorry. I couldn't figure out how to get passed the first jump. I must be missing some controlls. If you add a description of the controls to your page I'll give it another go.

Couldn't get to the second bonfire. I got to the lower area finally after realizing you let me jump as long as I want after I walk off a ledge.
Nice work! since your jump resets whenever you touch a solid surface you can used the edge of the ice pool to hit the ceiling (which resets your jump) ;)
I’ll take a look at your game!
